Introduction
Matt Nolan
This "GTS" recreation is a world away from a bog standard MGC, get this on the country roads and we can imagine the experience will be intoxicating!
The MGC was touted as BMC's replacement for the Austin-Healey 3000, a big 2.9L six cylinder engine upfront in the ever popular MGB set-up should have been an instant success. However, the press were not quite enamoured at the handling of the car, some say it was something to do with tyre pressures. The MGC GTS however was a totally different kettle of fish... coming out of the BMC Competition Department in Abingdon, it was a creation for the racing in the World Sportscar Championship. A lightweight version of the car with iconic bubble arches and of course all the racing gear through the drivetrain and chassis you'd expect created a very different beast.
That brings us to this example coming to market. Often you'll see MGC GT's which have been uprated to produce more power, and suspension, drivetrain and interior set-ups modified to make these cars much more suitable and competitive for racing. This example is coming to market after 16 years in the family, a racing past at Prescott previously, and heavily modified as an homage/recreation to the BMC works cars that raced in the 60s. The spec list of changes is impressive if you get around to looking past the exterior that is!

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
A couple of questions:-
MOT check shows last MOT expired in April ’19, surprised that this isn’t shown in the documentation? This infers that the car has been in road use, is this correct or has it only been used for hill climbing
Hi IAn, I never raced the car with my dad, that was the previous owner. My dad made this car more like a race car for the road, we did non-competitive rallys with the mg clubs and some trips up to Snowdonia, and also some london to brighton trips. With my dad passing it hasn’t been used much, but I’m still confident a trip to london wouldn’t be an issue. Thanks, Mike
