Introduction
Glyn Parry
One of the most iconic versions of the 911, the impact bumper era is arguably one of the most popular too.
The Porsche 911 first arrived in 1964 to replace the 356. The rear-mounted air-cooled engine layout remained the same, however, the 911 switched to unitary construction for the body-shell and dropped the VW-based suspension in favour of the McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement. Most importantly though, the engine was upgraded to an air-cooled flat six, a legendary change. Two years after the release of the introduction of the original coupe, Porsche announced their convertible variation, named the 'Targa' after their multiple wins in the Sicilian classic. The Targa featured a large roll-over bar to meet safety legislation and removable roof and hood sections that could fit in the front storage space.
We really like the look of this particular 911 SC Targa, coming to market from 7 years of ownership and having been restored to its former glory, this car will ticks a lot of boxes. Finished in a classic colour of Platinum Silver Metallic over beige interior, this UK RHD presents in excellent condition and comes with the UK dealer Sports options of whale tail, front sports spoiler, 16" Fuchs wheels and Bilstein dampers.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Adam the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I am still confused re the service history details as it looks like the mileage has gone down
20.10.1994 Service 68,569
27.04.1995 Service 60,000
18.08.1994 Service 56,000
Typo which has been rectified. If you look through the service book, you’ll see it says 1997 as per Adams response. Best, Kulraj – Trade Classics
Have the typo’s been rectified for the fact it’s not to Original Factory spec as per the listing and :”He commissioned a full respray and interior refit and trim back to the factory spec for this car”.
Yep, this has been changed. Best, Kulraj – Trade Classics
I see from the service history that it has gone back in mileage or is this a typo and it should read 20/10/1995??

Have you photos of the vehicle when you bought it as I would be interested to see how bad it was prior to its restoration also what pictures do you have of sorting the rust out during the restoration?
Was it a glass out restoration or can I see overspray on the rubbers around the bottom of the Targa screen?
Any idea how I can zoom in on the photos as clicking the magnifying glass only moves the picture in a small amount which makes it impossible to see the quality of the paint and other bits and bats?
What is the quality of the paint? Any rubbing down marks/ filler marks etc visible?
I see the CoC says the car was originally Pewter Metallic but the Listing refers to it being in its “Original Colour of Platinum Silver Metallic”
The listing also says you have brought the car back to original factory spec but the CoC says differently re the interior also. Please advise
Is this an original engine and gearbox with matching numbers car?
I cant see how many previous owners it is as the zoom in function makes it blurred. Has it had anything else done baring oil changes and if so what proof of either do you have?
I couldn’t work out from the video if the radio works or not as I couldn’t hear any music.
Thanks
Hello Gary, thank you for your comments. I will address them as best I can, as follows:
there is no typo on the service dates 20/10/97 mileage reads 68,569.
unfortunately, I do not have pictures of the car when I bought it, it was tatty inside and out due to a long lay up with some surface rust here and there, nothing structural, however my instructions to my project manager was to cut out and re-weld any rust that was found. I also visited the restorer weekly to check this and other jobs were correctly carried out.
If you look at the car in the paint booth you will see it was a windows out respray, I witnessed this.
Glyn, the consigner , spent 2 1/2 hrs studying and photographing the car, his quote sums it up ‘ it has a deep lustre throughout and the finish appears excellent’. There has been no filler used on this vehicle to my best knowledge, I have seen it rubbed down before painting and did not see any.
The colour is one that I selected and I am very pleased I did, it looks brilliant. The description should not read ‘Original’, sorry.
The description of the interior is by the consigner, however, the quality of the finish is very clear to see in the photos.
This is a matching numbers car.
Eight previous owners.
I am a graduate engineer and car enthusiast, so try to do most small jobs myself, such as oil and filter changes. I recently changed the pulley belt and the fuel sender. The MOT garage changed the indicator switch loom which was found faulty during MOT last week.
I have never used the radio as I just thrive on the sound of the engine and exhaust. Glyn checked it out and it worked along with the electric extending ariel
Regarding zooming on photos, I can’t help in this regard, maybe the website owners can help.
Thanks for your interest.
