By the early '80s, Porsche was at a crossroads with the 911's future. Earmarked for deletion, a change of heart and a revival of the Carrera name proved to be a turning point for the 911. Offered with three body shapes, a Coupe, a Targa and a Cabriolet, all sporting a new improved 3.2-litre engine.
The 3.2 Carrera launched in '83 and although it was very similar to the outgoing SC, it had numerous technical improvements. The most notable was the new lager 3,164cc engine that featured a digital motronic engine management system and Bosche LE Jetronic fuel injection to raise the power from 204BHP to 231BHP with a top speed of 152MPH.
This example is the last of the G-Bodied 911's, featuring the iconic whale tail and the desirable G50 5-speed gearbox. It is also a "Sport", a UK dealer only high specification car over the standard Carrera 3.2, and is coming to sale from the trade from previous long term ownership.

Im with the car now I can’t see anything wrong the pass door.
The paintwork finish is actually lovely, however when the car was painted it was finished to the rubber on the wings rather than removing the panels. I’m sure that’s what you are seeing.

Very interested in this car but I am having reservations re the paintwork which is described as very good? Looking at the photos it seems the paint preparation & finish on the tops of the wings & n/s door is poor.I would appreciate your comments.thanks
Hi yes all matching numbers. The car doesn’t have A/C, thank goodness, it’s heavy, over complicated and unreliable.
The exhaust is a stainless steel, the rear rear box is a twin exit job, a common fitment in the 80’s apparently.
The system is in great condition, commensurate with the loving the cars had by its previous owner, it sounds great, and looks great.

Hi Graham, nice example you have there. May I just verify that
1) Its a numbers matching car (V5c) -engine and chassis.
2) The car has factory fitted air conditioning? And if so, how is the operation and maintenance on that?
3) The Exhaust – is it all original exhaust (mild steel), any damage /blowing?

Hi I’ve had a good look through the book pack and I can’t find any more than has been photographed I’m afraid, I did call the previous owners son and he just didn’t know.
Sorry about that, although I have to say it’s not unusual with cars of this age.

Car looks great and just what I am looking for. Couple of questions if that’s OK
i) is there any history pre 1996?
ii) it’s always difficult to judge the paintwork on video especially when the sun is out, would it be accurate to say that several panels have been re-sprayed with some areas showing paint on the rubbers and trim – or is this trickery of the camera?

Hi Nigel thanks for touching base, I purchased the car to use myself really, (a man of a curtain age) however during my fettling with my new project a 930 turbo came along and I purchased it, kinda leaving the Carrera a bit surplus.
I have spent a considerable amount of time and money bringing the car up to the standard of its mechanical integrity.
Ref the previous history, I’ll try the previous owner to see if he can remember and I’ll dig the book pack out and let you know.
I purchased the car from the son of the deceased owner of lucky garage, the old chap specialised in repairing the brand, it was the bosses car, so to speak , it has been loved to bits mechanically, by that i mean it drives exceptionally well (much better than the turbo).
The gear change is perfect, the clutch is light for this model and all the electrical stuff works,
The owner maintained it himself and you can tell, it goes well, feels right and sounds fab.
The paintwork is really good, it must have had a respray relatively recently I’d say, it shines well, it’s really even coloured, no signs of blow in’s. the car has been painted to the rubbers rather removing the panels, a very trained eye would notice but the paintwork is so good it doesn’t really detract from the car.
