Introduction
Colin Bashford
The successor to the iconic E-Type, the XJS retains the luxurious racing heritage and has quickly become Jaguar's next appreciating classic.
The XJS is a luxury grand tourer produced by Jaguar from 1975 to 1996. Based on the XJ saloon platform and was noted for the unique prominent rear flying buttresses with early styling drawn by Jaguar's best aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer.
Considered as one of the best looking and desirable XJS models ever produced, the convertible was a proper open-top luxury GT, with an electric hood mechanism, strengthened front section and subframe which could be constituted as a new car in its own right.
This "Sapphire Blue" over "Ivory" example was exported to Hong Kong in 1996, whereby it was garaged and enjoyed as a weekend car, hence the low mileage. The current owner purchased the car just over a year ago, and had it re-registered in the UK to enjoy over the summer.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Pete the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.
