Plush cabins, sublime ride quality, and a beast of a power-plant make these luxury saloons from Bentley such a pleasure to experience.

The Bentley Arnage was introduced in 1998 and produced until 2009. It was the first newly designed car for the marque since 1980. This is a facelifted R variant fully equipped with tonnes of optional extras fitted at the factory. The R features twin-turbochargers and a whopping 6.75L which produces ~450BHP. With a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds and a top speed of ~168MPH, it's not short in the performance department. Quite a feat when you look at the size of the car and how the interior is trimmed.

This fine example is finished in the Bentley colour of "Diamond Black" and trimmed in Magnolia over Beluga. John is selling a couple of his classics with us, and this Bently is coming out of 6 years of ownership, with only a mere ~29,000 miles covered, and in the very attractive Mulliner spec.

Big, bold, and muscular, with sporty touches to elevate this luxury saloon.

Wheels and Tyres

This Arnage is fitted with optional upgrades of 19" split rim alloys with red wheel centre caps as an optional extra. The wheels look in great condition, we only noticed a very small curb mark to the front offside.

Finished with Pirelli P Zero's dated between 2015 to 2017, the tyres appear to have a good amount of tread left, in line with the limited use of the car. View the picture gallery to see further detail.

Bodywork

Just as you would expect from a Bently all the panel gaps look tight and correct when observing the car. When getting really close to the drivers door we noticed a very small dent near the keyhole.

From the factory, the car came optioned with a Jewel filler cap, quad exhaust tailpipes, revised rear bumper, and radiator shell - painted with stainless steel matrix-style grille.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in a very attractive "Diamond Black" paint which looks excellent, an elegant and unique choice that pairs well with the Magonia over Beluga leather interior. Overall the paint is even in finish and colour across all the panels.

We did notice the odd stone chip to the front bumper. The images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass appears In line with the rest of the car for its age and mileage, all the panels look great without any cracks, chips, or marks to note. The car was ordered with a tinted windscreen, and security glass from the factory. During our visit, we did notice some minor condensation in the front offside light.

Interior

Lined with the premium leather and contrasting wood trim, just the type of delightful interior you'd expect in a Bentley.

Seats and Carpets

Luxurious diamond-quilted seats with emblems to squab tops are fitted within this Arnage R. The diamond quilting continues around the doors cards, and indented hide headlining is also fitted. The cabin of this Bently is a really lovely place to spend any time travelling. We noticed some very slight signs of wear to the driver bolsters in line with the age and mileage. The armrest in the front and rear also show the slightest signs of use, in line with the rest of the interior.

Dashboard

A burr walnut veneered dashboard greats you as you take a seat in the luxurious cruiser. A very clean and smart Bently dash and instrument cluster, all the numbers are clean, clear and legible.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a Bently leather over wood steering wheel and chromed automatic gear selector. The steering wheel adds minimal effort required to manoeuvre this luxury saloon.

Mechanics

The 6.75L Twin turbo power-plant hauls this luxury cruiser to 60MPH in just 5.8s - astonishing.

Engine and Gearbox

Equipped with the mighty 6.75L twin-turbocharged V8. The car featured a tuned engine with an output of ~450BHP. John reports that the engine and gearbox are very smooth, as you would expect, and everything is working as it should.

This car was last serviced in May 2019, ~2,000 ago by Bentley specialists Balmoral UK. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath.

Suspension and Brakes

The Arnage R is fitted with large brake discs to cope with the extra weight of the 6.75L V8 and luxurious additional options fitted.

John reports a very smooth and steady ride in the Arnage R, he mentions the suspension and brakes are working exactly as you would expect and are always given the attention they deserve.

The Drive

Don't let the luxurious features deceive you, under the luxurious skin is a tuned and roaring twin-turbo'd 6.75L V8 attached to a ZF automatic box to handle and deliver the power to the road. Watch the video to see this car in action.

Electrics and Other

John reports all the electrics are working as you would expect.

From factory the car was fitted with; Alpine Radio/CD/MP3 player, Automatic low beam, CD changer, cruise control, DVD system in the rear compartment with screens in front headrests, fully electrical front seats with 4 memory functions, headlight washers, power windows, front and rear seat heaters, ultrasonic park distance control, voice control, and a Nokia 6230I Bluetooth telephone system.

Hello John. Please advise a. Is the car fitted with the 4 speed or 6 speed gearbox. b. Are the turbos Garret or Mitsubishi.

I think its a 4 speed ( look at the one of the pictures where is shows D<3<2<1 ). i'm sure the 6speed came in 2007 and therefore does it have the ZF gearbox? The answer is no it can't have

Thanks… had my suspicions…. the 6 speed was equiped with the uprated Mitsubishi turbos!
