Introduction
Alan Stuart
Britain's most popular sports car, the MGB offers performance, honest charm and mechanical simplicity.
There are many reasons why the MGB is so popular, perhaps it's the hardy mechanics that still come with performance not to be sniffed at for a classic like this. Not only is the MGB GT incredibly fun to drive, they look great with their sleek and attractive body lines. The MGB was first introduced to the world in 1962 and was produced until 1980. Not many cars offer the same practicality and parts availability today with an estimated 23,000 still on UK roads, they may not be particularly exclusive, but the Pininfarina-styled cars still provide that authentic classic car experience.
This early rubber bumper example has had a conversion to chrome bumpers and comes to market from ~6 years ownership. It's had some useful upgrades actioned like gas struts on the rear and the suspension overhauled. The car has just had an MOT actioned for peace of mind, coming back clean as a whistle. The vendor informs us that the car has also had a recent service which included an ignition service to help ensure the car starts on the button every time.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Graham the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Sorry, silly question bout the MOTs. Seen them in the gallery now.
KennyK
Hi Graham, does the car have overdrive and is that working OK? And also, in the six years you owned it, have you carried out any bodywork repairs (eg sills or other panels?) and has it had regular MOTs?
Best wishes
KennyK
Hi KennyK, to answer your first question, the car isn’t fitted with an overdrive. The only bodywork I have had done since I bought the car was in 2019 when the infills were added under the front and rear lights and a new front valance fitted as part of the chrome bumper conversion (receipt for bodywork included in paperwork). Although the car is now MOT exempt it sailed through a ‘peace of mind’ test less than a month ago. I hope that answers your questions, please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any more info… Regards, Graham
Hi,
Does the car run on the current E10 unleaded petrol? Cheers
Hi jwebber, I don’t run the car on E10. I’ve always used E5 Super and Castrol Valvemaster additive. I think the general view is that E10 isn’t suitable for most classics unless they’ve had alterations. Regards, Graham
Great – Thanks
Thanks Graham
Does the car have a heritage certificate?
When was the car last restored?
Is the tundra green the original colour
Hi gtr4444. No, I have not applied for a heritage certificate for the GT. As far as I am aware the car has not had any significant restoration before I purchased it and Tundra is the original colour. I haven’t spotted any different colours on the car such as under carpets/dashboard etc…. I hope that helps. Graham
