Introduction
Colin Bashford
The 997 variant of the 911 started production in 2004, replacing the 996, Porsche brought back the more familiar oval-shaped headlights the 911 was known for.
The Carrera S was fitted with a 3.8L flat-six, up from 3.6L in the 996, producing ~350BHP. The S also got a few upgrades over the standard Carrera, including; upgraded brakes and 19” alloy wheels. With the familiar rear-engined, rear wheel drive layout the Carrera S offers a unique driving experience.
This particular 997 Carrera S comes to market after ~2 years of ownership with ~97,700 miles on the clock. Finished in triple black, this coupe has some nice options such as the mutli-function Tiptronic control steering wheel, sun/moon roof, Porsche crests on the heated leather seats. It has recently received new brake discs and pads all round, you can see the invoice in the paperwork section below. Being a Gen 1 997 S, it's good to know this car comes with a bore score report carried out last year, and a solid history file too.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
I pay £30.50 a month for tax but unsure if thats in the lower tax bracket
Hi John. Does the car fall into the lower tax bracket as its a pre 2006.
Thanks John it’s clear you’ve looked after the car well.
Hi Omar,
The left engine mount had started to fail as I was pulling into work. I inspected it immediately and noticed one exhaust was sitting slightly lower than the other. I phoned the AA to take it to the nearest specialist garage in Glasgow as I didn’t want to damage the engine by driving it. Turned out to be a good decision as it was corroded right through. Great first 911 if your successful. Good luck
Hi John. Sorry another question as this could be my first 911. Once invoice said the car had to be recovered by the AA was this because of the engine mounts or another issue?
Thanks John
Hi John. Could I ask about the AC system please? Has it worked during your ownership? The invoice from GEO Morrison notes they carried out an AC pressure test and found a leak at the low pressure valve – was this dealt with?
Hi, The garage carried out a check of the AC system as part of the service. When I went to collect the car George had stated a small pipe needed replaced at roughly £80 and regassed. He stated the condensors were in excellent condition. They never replaced the pipe for some reason. The AC worked when I got the car but I never got it re-gassed in my ownership as I generally have the windows and sunroof open in the summer. The car is garaged and covered all winter.
