Introduction
Glyn Parry
Powered by a punchy Raceline modified 1.8L Zetec engine producing ~180bhp and weighing little over ~600kgs - a blisteringly quick car.
The Stylus was originally conceived by Jeremy Philips as a development of the Fury and is a Sylva born design. Featuring a wider body and track, the Stylus allowed for a more spacious cabin, boot space, and further benefited from a one piece moulded body to allow for easier panel alignment during the build stages.
In summer of 1996 Jeremy Philips sold the rights to the Stylus to Specialist Sports Cars who continued to make improvements to the already popular design of the Stylus before handing the reins over to long time employee Tim Benbow who has continued on the legacy of the Stylus since 2004.
This particular example is a "Road and Track" edition, benefitting from wider track and independent rear suspension. Having been owned since new by the vendor, this example comes with the Raceline modified Zetec engine, which gives the car a power to weight ratio of 300BHP per tonne, hence the 300 RT moniker. In its most recent service it had new ignition leads, plugs and a cam belt.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi Peter, a couple of questions if I may: I’m 6’3” – will I fit? How much is the annual road tax please? Looking at the paperwork there doesn’t seem to be a current MOT? Could it be driven if it did have a current Mot? I live on the south coast and don’t have any way to get it home. Do you have a local friendly garage who could get it through an MOT at my cost – obviously. Thanks Peter
Hi Peter,
I’m 6ft 1 and son 6ft 2. Seat is fixed . We wore tight racing shoes or plimsoles. We found more than adequate room to heel and toe. The shell seats are very snug.
We wear jeans or race suit
I think last tax was £260
There is no current Mot, it was last tested 2 years ago and parked in the garage where it had been ever since unused.
I have a friendly garage who could MOT it
Last week I put some fresh fuel (Aspen) and with some “start yer b*stard” spray , it spluttered into life and running ok after 10 mins. I would think sensible to clean the accelerator pump jets as being the finest are the first to foul up with fuel residue.
Hi again Peter, I’ve just booked in for an MOT next Tuesday. Gives me time to ensure it will pass!
Cheers
