A smart and compact modern 2 door series from BMW, retaining the classic rear wheel drive layout.

The 435i represents the F series of the BMW models with a significant upgrade to interior and exterior styling. Powered by its 6 cylinder, 3.0L, twin-turbo charged petrol engine, the BMW is capable of delivering ~302BHP and ~295lb ft torque which gives it some serious performance on the road. With all that power, its down to its engineering and its handling that keeps the car comfortable when driving. The real difference in these models comes with the wider, lower stance and electric power steering making the 435i feel much more solid when out on the road.

Coming to market with ~77,937 on the clock, and 2 previous owners, this model has been treated to regular maintenance through its life. The last service replaced the vanos solenoid fuel regulator in November 2022 which benefits its future owner due to updated fuel consumption measurements. Also, the front brake pads were updated in May 2022 and rear tyres were replaced with new Bridgestone's in August 2021.

With the hard top convertible the 435i offers excellent winter protection and the open top experience for the summer.

As a fan of performance luxury motoring, Jonathan has loved this car, owning it for ~5 years, "The car looks gorgeous and I think it's one of the most attractive BMW's ever produced". Presented in silver over red leather interior the colour suits the car well, but its not just the exterior that the current owner is fond of "I love the 6-cylinder 3.0L engine which develops ~302BHP and ~295lb ft torque, it revs so smoothly and sweetly and the car corners extremely well".

BMW M-Sport styling shows its added cosmetic value with side skirts, wheels adding the sporty style to its road stance.

Wheels and Tyres

19" BMW multi spoke alloys look great across all four corners of the car, presenting with minimal scuffs and curb marks, the wheels bring the exterior of the 435i together nicely. Bridgestone T005 run flats were replaced on the rear of the car in August 2021.

Bodywork

The BMW is a great looking car with its German design standing out on the road. Looking over the car, we did note a ding next to the drivers side door, apart from this, the shut lines, panel gaps around the car all presented nicely.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Looking over the car on our visit the paint looked really good. There were hardly any signs of stone chips evident, but we noted a slight scuff on the rear nearside quarter panel and skirt sections towards the rear. Overall though, a good looking car across the exterior, a proper detail would elevate the car further, this one having been used as a daily driver.

Glass and Trim

The glass is all presented in great condition, with no major scratches or chips which we could see at the time of our visit. The trims and seals are the same, matching the rest of the vehicle. The rear offside window did have a temperamental issue when operating, Jonathan is getting this fixed by the mechanic before it is picked up by the new owner.

Interior

The F series of the BMW saw some serious design updates to the interior, giving the driver and passengers increased room.

Seats and Carpets

The red leather seats are a nice contrast to the silver exterior, the front driver and passenger seats feature pull out leg supports along with adjustable lumbar support for supported seating in the cabin area.

Overall the seating areas presented well, there was a slight mark on the lower section of the passenger seat and some signs of wear to the drivers bolster section, again like the exterior, a professional detail would elevate the interior. Both front seats also include electronic memory functions which the current owner reported was working as to be expected.

Much like the rest of the interior, carpet sections through the BMW showed to be in a good condition although could benefit from a shampoo and clean through from the future owner.

Dashboard

The 435i dash is set up for driver comfort with the "F series" BMW changing the dash presentation considerably from previous BMW models. With a large centre screen working as it should, the electrical functions across the dash and driver facing dials and gauges were all displaying well and presented no issue. CD player and Radio stereo functions were available along with climate control and integrated sat nav functionality.

Head over to the interior gallery for more images of the dash section, as the car has been in regular usage through its life it could benefit from the future owner giving the BMW some detailed attention to its final finish, but overall, the dash area showed well with no marks, cracks or splits.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The multi function steering wheel keeps the driver ready for the road ahead, integrated speed limiter, voice input functionality, radio, mode and volume functions are available for the journey. Subtly positioned behind the 3 spoke leather bound wheel are the optional paddle shifters for a manual gear change dependant on the drive preference. The steering wheel shows its use and age, but we think that if detailed correctly could be improved.

Running automatic, (with manual override should the situation be desired) the drive option stick shows in a great way sitting nicely within the centre section of the cabin.

Mechanics

The N55 BMW twin-turbo engine produces some serious power with its 3.0L, 6-cylinder engine developing ~302BHP and ~295lb ft torque.

Engine and Gearbox

The N55 engine has the typical modern day sealed approach with plastic covers etc, with much of the mechanical elements hidden away from the elements. The engine showed no signs of concern when we started the BMW up or took the car out on the road.

Take a look at our "Mechanical Review" video where we see the car starting up and running. Following the cold start, we take the 435i out for a drive where you can hear the engine work its way comfortably through its paces.

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no issues with the suspension and how they car behaved or performed whilst going through its paces out on the road, with the mechanical components working as to be expected. Equally, brakes performed well, stopping as required when we needed them to.

The current MOT, valid until September 2023, noted no issues with the suspension, braking systems or equally any of the other mechanical functions. Take a look at our "On the Road" video to see in real time how the car responds to the road and driving.

The Drive

BMW are renowned for luxury performance, smooth handling and the driving experience. The 435i shows off all of this comfortably and adds in the option of the open top experience when desired.

The 4 series, with its electronically assisted power steering, gives a more precise and responsive change of direction delivered to the steering wheel. The real difference in these models comes in the wider, lower stance making the car feel much more solid when out on the road.

Electrics and Other

Taking the car out on the road it was pleasing to see that all the electrical elements of the BMW were working as to be expected. The twist dial, multi function selector in the cabin area of the dash comfortably sits in the drivers left hand and gives several options and functions for car comfort and driver options.

Please note as stated earlier, when we were out visiting the car we did have some issues with the electric retractable hardtop, the main issue with this was the rear offside window operation being temperamental which didn't allow the roof to correctly retract, Jonathan is getting this fixed by the mechanic before it is picked up by the new owner.

Featuring keyless entry and start up, integrated sat nav function, CD and radio stereo, along with climate control the car also benefitted from electric memory seats as well as a multi function steering wheel with media mode, volume and speed limiter options.

Coming from ~5 years ownership and 2 previous keepers, the 435i has benefitted from regular servicing through its life, a smart car presented in silver over red colour combination.

The BMW has been really well loved over its past few years, with many driver conveniences the car is well set up for more more modern style driving. Features such as keyless entry and start up, integrated sat nav, electric seat functions for positioning settings as well as a multi function steering wheel and twist function dial for the on board computer - are all well set up for the future owner.

With its 3.0L engine, the 435i represents the F series of the BMW, specifically the F33 owing to the 4 series convertible model, with a significant upgrade to interior and exterior styling. Showing a fresh dashboard design and more angular, muscular exterior styling its safe to say the car has had a big step up from its previous incarnations. This particular model has benefitted from regular servicing through its relatively short history, the vanos solenoid fuel regulator has been replaced November 2022 which benefits its future owner due to updated fuel consumption measurements. Additionally, the front brake pads were replaced in May 2022 and the rear tyres were replaced with new Bridgestone T005's in August 2021.
