Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.
On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.
Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

This is Paul’s own personal car that he bought over 15 months ago. During that time he’s enjoyed it as a weekend car for longer road trips, notably driving the car to Le Mans last year; an illuminating experience for any car enthusiast. Paul has completed around 1,700 miles in this gorgeous GT car and has maintained it in excellent condition. Paul is a car guy and has held senior engineering positions at Jaguar Land Rover before semi-retiring and starting his own E-Type restoration business – we know Paul well and there is no one better out there to buy such a car off.
Paul is only looking to sell this car as he’s not using it as much as he though he would, and now he wants to find a new owner to really enjoy such an excellent condition example that is arguably just like new. Please watch all the media we have taken of the car and Paul driving around his local area.
The brochure of the Vantage states the perfect proportions are ‘timelessly beautiful’ and we don’t think anyone can argue with that statement. Overall the exterior is presented in absolutely excellent condition, please watch our ‘Exterior Review’ video where we examine this neat and graceful example.
Wheels & Tyres
The Aston is fitted with 7-spoke alloy painted wheels blessed with: Bridgestone Potenza, 235/40/19′ front (2019), and 275/35/19′ rear that appear in excellent condition. The nearside front wheel has a slight imperfection and does not affect the drive.
Bodywork
The bodywork really is in excellent condition, together with the soft-top roof. We only noticed some small imperfections in the chrome look plastic parts that are inset in the vents on the front wings – an easy part to change if the new owner wishes. There is one very small stone chip on the bonnet that is difficult to see, however, we have pointed it out in the images. The roof takes around 16 seconds to function.
Paint
Presented in an iconic Tungsten Silver that many associated the brand with, you see that in the video and photos, this car is truly in immaculate order.
Glass and Trim
Both are in excellent condition across the car. The large nearside windscreen wiper has slight surface corrosion which has been sprayed with paint, this can be easily remedied by the new owner that will want to maintain the condition of this car.
Paul mentions how happy he was when choosing this car as the seats look like they are new. The overall interior looks to be in excellent condition and Adam states he smelt that new car aroma when entering the car – something you only get from a 12 year car when the materials are luxurious and the owner taking care of such a fine example.
Seats and Carpets
Both are in immaculate condition, the seats are finished in Strathmore, Sandstorm leather with grey carpets that have been kept well.
Dashboard
The graphite colour to the dashboard finishes the car in a tidy manner and the whole interior is in excellent condition.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Both are in excellent condition with no issues.
Paul took us round our local area of Warwickshire having a great time. We apologise for some of the audio in our videos as we had trouble with our camera. Regardless, you can see this car is built to drive in a comfortable manner, but like any sports car you can allow yourself a fully enjoyable driving experience when accelerating.
Engine and Gearbox
The car started first go from cold with no issues (see the start of the meet the owner video). You are blessed with a 4.3L V8 engine that is crafted with expert engineering achieving 380hp out of the factory with rear-wheel drive. The car also has a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine bay looks incredibly tidy as can be seen in the videos and photos.
Suspension and Brakes
The suspension was smooth on our ride out and the 4 disc-brakes look to be in good condition and worked as expected on such a fantastic example.
The Drive
This car is built for the ultimate driving experience. Smooth, quiet and comfortable when cruising, and exciting when pulling off with the throttle down. It is designed to be driven everyday if the owner is so inclined to.
Electrics and Other
The electrics worked as expected with no issues on our visit. As you can see in the videos the electric roof performs well.
Like most caring owners and their Aston Martin, the car comes with a complete history that details all servicing and health checks that have been undertaken by AM specialists throughout its healthy life.
During the previous ownership the owner bought the car for £44,000 in February 2016 from specialists, highlighting the depreciation in value in 2020, but not diminishing the condition of the car – this is a true bargain.
Paul, the current owner is happy to negotiate the sale of the old English private number plate (3 numbers / 3 letters) that is currently on the car, 260 SVT at a fixed price of £1,500 on top of the vehicle price. It’s a valuable dateless plate that really does look great on the car.

What more can be said about this car? It has excellent history, kept in near new condition by Paul and former keepers, looks incredible, comfortable and the mileage is low considering the drive-ability of the car. Aston Martin revitalised the brand in the last decade and its timeless design will capture the imagination of passers-by for many years to come.
We would like to thank Paul for using our service again and we are excited to find the Aston a new home.

Are you still selling?
Hi Keith, yes indeed. I’ll drop you a direct email so that we can discuss further. Best, Kulraj
Hi.
Have you any photos of the car, with the hood in the downward position.
Thank you
Frank.
Hi Frank – there’s a video of the roof going up in the Exterior video. What exactly do you want to see extra as we can get those pics if you want us to.
Hi Adam.
Just viewed the video, thank you, that looks great.
Thank you.
Frank
Re: The car service history.
Why was the car serviced twice in the same year? Or is this a typo and should be the year before?
Thanks
Hi Harpender,
This is just a typo. As you can see in the paperwork the service and MOT was over the course of a few days with different recorded mileages. I have amended the service history now stating –
09.02.2017 – 15,935 (MOT & Service)
Many Thanks,
Tom
A really great car – Paul’s ready for questions 🙂
