Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

The ultimate classic look camper - the Volkswagen T2c has a huge cult following and is the way of life for many.

Following the huge success of the T1 Split Screen, 1967 brought us the production of the second generation VW T2. Commonly known as the bay-window. In the 1990s we saw the addition of the 'T2c', the roof was raised by around 10cm and was specifically built for the Mexican, Central, and South American markets. The 'C' is easily identified by the large, front-mounted radiator. Stricter emission regulations introduced by the Brazilian government in 2006 forced a shift to a flexible-fuel-water-cooled engine able to run on petrol or ethanol, which this example comes equipped with; a rear-mounted EA-111 1.4L 8v Total Flex engine borrowed from the VW Golf and Polo.

This T2c is coming to market from ~9 years of ownership with Jenny and has only covered ~39,800 kilometres since 2007. It comes with some history that details upkeep and maintenance of the mechanical aspects of this desirable camper.

Presented in an attractive orange over white colourway, and recently refurbished orange over cream interior, this VW T2c is one camper we'd love to spend the summer in.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Jenny the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I have loved every minute in the T2 community - the smiles, waves, conversations and friends you make along the way is really special.

Jenny purchased this example in April 2014 from Snail Trail - a reputable retro camper van trader. The bright and vibrant colour along with the chrome Porsche style wheels really drew her in. To get the van to a standard she was happy with Jenny has had it re-upholstered in orange over cream leather, along with panel alignment, replacement of the sill and inner sill sections.

Due to a new arrival to the family, Jenny is now looking for something a little larger and practical to drive on weekends - she will be on hand to answer any questions on the van in the comments below.

Exterior

Beautifully presented in white over orange, ‘Vera’ has been restored and is ready for a summer full of adventures.

Wheels and Tyres

The chrome-finished Porsche wheels give this T2c a lot of character. On this example, the wheels appear in good used condition, with signs of pitting on the chrome as you can see in the pictures.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin Energy (2015 - front nearside), Nexen CP631 (2008 - rear nearside), Yokohama A drive (front offside), and Firestone Hawk (rear offside) tyres and these appear to also be in good condition, with a good amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking or signs of age to the outside sidewalls.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this van looks in great condition, with all the panel gaps looking to align very well. During our visit we didn't spot any obvious dings down the flanks of the van.

We did notice some minor areas of corrosion around the guttering on the roof.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the vehicle for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in this vibrant orange over white paintwork. The paint is finished to a lovely standard, with even coverage and colour across each panel. We did notice the odd very small and minor stone chip to the front of the car, however, you'll have to get really close to notice these. We noticed a slight area of wear on the offside door edges, and some bubbling around the rear of the vehicle - you can see these small defects in the photos and video below.

Again, we have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the van for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this T2c example looks great and in line with the low mileage and ownership, we didn't notice any cracks, or discolouration on our visit, just one small chip on the front windscreen. The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the vehicle.

The chrome elements and black plastic trim all look in good condition too, with the slightest signs of pitting.

Take a look at the exterior photos to see the unused awning, original chrome wing mirrors and outdoor cover included in the sale.

Interior

Recently retrimmed seats, gas heater and stove, heated seats, and leisure battery - this VW T2c is lavishly equipped for any holiday.

Seats and Carpets

The orange over cream heated leather seats with cream piping look great, and as you would expect for a recent professional retrim.

A similar story is told with the door cards and brown carpets.

Please take a look at the extensive media for a detailed view of the cabin.

Dashboard

The digital dashboard is covered in a grey plastic trim and presents the gauges in front of the driver.

The dashboard in this T2c shows no signs of any major damage or scuffs. With no warning lights displayed, the odometer showed a reading of ~39,897 km (~24,790 miles) on our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original VW wheel is fitted and presents in great condition - looking in line with the mileage of this vehicle ; the black gearstick looks good too.

Take a look at the image gallery to see the detail.

Mechanics

Classic style with modern reliability - you can rest assured, any previous issues have been ironed out as the T2c is powered by the later water-cooled 1.4L unit.

Engine and Gearbox

The 1.4L EA-111 1.4L 8v Total Flex engine from VW is a generally reliable unit and on the day of our visit we started the vehicle from cold, and it performed well out on the road with the engine pulling nicely, idled smoothly, and ran without fault.

Jenny reports the vehicle starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth manual four-speed gearbox powering the wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the vehicle starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath the Transporter T2c, and the smart engine bay.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension appears in good condition and provided a smooth journey out on the roads.

On our short drive in the vehicle, it felt just as you'd expect for a modern T2 from this era, coming to a stop without a fuss too.

The Drive

The forward control driving position offers a very fun experience - anybody can pick up very quickly.

The steering wheel offers good leverage especially with its power steering.

This van will not fail to put a smile on your face.

Electrics and Other

We didn’t test all the electrics during our visit, but Jenny reports that to her knowledge all of the electrics are functional and operational, in line with the rest of the condition of the vehicle.

The vehicle has a Kenwood stereo unit fitted.

History and Paperwork

One highly desirable later T2c bay window camper - recently restored and fully kitted out interior, ready for many summer adventures.

The vehicle is coming out of a ~9 year ownership with Jenny.

The van benefits from more modern touches such as the VW 1.4L engine and interior features such as a fridge, gas hob and heater, heated seats, gas heater, polished Porsche style wheels and recently retrimmed orange over cream leather trim, it also features a full pull out rock and roll bed. The vehicle comes with an awning its original chrome wing mirrors and a waterproof cover. Take a look at this history and paperwork media to see the previous MOT reports, work and parts this T2c has received over its life.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the vehicle based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the vehicle in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the vehicle - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi there. I’ve seen the MOT history but does it have service history? Is it HPI clear and never been involved in an accident?
