Introduction
Alan Stuart
With its claimed ~220BHP 2.5L V8 engine, it's easy to see where the Urraco, meaning “little bull”, gets its name from.
In the early '70s, the late Ferruccio Lamborghini had decided it was time to add a smaller model to the line-up that until then, only consisted of V12 engine cars. It was this decision that lead to a V8 powered model being produced that was able to compete on the same level as the Ferrari Dino 246 or the Porsche 911, so, preliminary work began on a model that would become the Urraco.
At the November 1970 Turin Auto Show, the first pre-production Urraco crafted by Marcello Gandini, designer of the Lamborghini Countach, went on display, showing off its handsome looks, angular frontage with pop-up headlights and large, wide opening doors. All in all a well-balanced car that, once you got to know it, was acknowledged as a true 'Raging Bull'.
1972 saw the improved two-door coupe, Urraco S introduced, utilising a full leather upholstery, powered windows that were now also tinted and an optional metallic paint coat available. The engine also received an update, and was fitted with new Weber 40 DCNF carburettors, capable of synchronous opening and high rates of flow making them ideal for highly tuned engines.
During its current ownership, the Lamborghini has had new springs and dampers fitted all the way around the car, the calipers have been rebuilt and new tyres added in 2022. A great benefit with this Urraco is that the car has been resprayed and was finished in March 2021 where the new paint works cost ~£11,500. With low mileage and having only had three previous owners, this is a seriously rare car that is still capable of delivering impressive performance, coupled with a comfortable ride.
This listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Richard the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Bidders please be aware that after a drive yesterday it was noticed that the bottom of the coolant header tank was damp. The tank is completely dry when cold, so it is not clear if this is the cap leaking or a weep when hot. This would therefore need monitoring, and a repair if indicated. Please also be aware that the original Bosch alternator is on the car after being refurbished with new diodes and bearings.
Thanks.
Hi I noticed it says 1950 for 1st registration and 2000 the last change of owner in one of the last documents!
I don’t believe any history of owners 1973 to 1980 is that correct?
Thank you.
Dave
Hello Dave
The first registration date of 26/05/1950 shown on the HPi check record is incorrect. Unfortunately This can happen with old cars with a short vin, and you can confirm the 1st registration date by viewing the V5, or checking the CIW 2069 registration for yourself on DVLA
With regard to the 1973-1980 query, the V5 I received when I bought the car starts at 1980. I have asked that question myself in the past and there’s anecdotal information I received regarding first owner in the 70’s, and this is shown in the History and Paperwork documents section of the listing.
