Introduction
Darren Rungasamy
The 968 Sport has an infectious character defined by that brawny engine and subtle but important tweaks to handing.
Design evolution is very much a Porsche tradition, with each successive model handing over the baton to thrill a new generation of owners. Never a company to take half measures, the roots of the 968 trace back to the 1970s and 1980s, retaining all the positive virtues of the original 924 and 944. It was comprehensively reworked in 1991, the 968 was enhanced by the new curvy styling, 928 style pop-up headlamps and an extensively redeveloped 3.0-litre engine. The most exciting aspect, however, was the addition of the lightweight Club Sport models. Tailored to appeal to the driving enthusiasts, rather than the casual buyer, Porsche GB took the concept of the Club Sport and added a handful of creature comforts without upsetting the balance and ethos of the car. Sharing the same 20mm height reduction as the CS, the UK-only Sport models are fitted with more comfortable seats, rear occasional seating, and additional wiring to accommodate the electric windows, central locking and tailgate release. Out of the 1743 Club Sport models imported into the UK, 306 were converted by Porsche GB to Sport spec, making it one of the rarer production Porsche models ever to be produced.
This original 1994 example is finished in "Grand Prix White" and has been with the same family for ~23 years, with just 1 previous keeper before the current family ownership. Fitted with leather seats, rather than fabric, it has also seen ~£10,000 worth of maintenance in the last 5 years. It comes with a MOT to July 2024, and has two keys, its original owner's wallet and booklets.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi Rupert-
Just to clarify- the car has had regular services during your ownership and you have documentation that confirms this (other than the receipts from Pickup Motorsport, 2019 onwards)?
Do you have the original seats?
Regards-
Andy
Hi Andy,
Yes, the car had regular servicing and maintenance, mainly at the time of its MOT. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep the pre-Pickup invoices of work done.
Absent that, in terms of how well the car is maintained and performs, I’d suggest contacting Adrian Slowey at Pickup who knows the car better than anyone and is a Porsche specialist – contact details at the top of the invoice. The result of four years of his work is that the car runs well.
At the end of June, I took the car to Liege and the Ardennes in Belgium – it ate up the kms and handled the smaller roads in the Ardennes beautifully.
The two optional issues are replacing the sun roof mechanism (which I’d put off because some of the invoices were quite ££s) and replacing the rear demister, which necessitate replacing the rear window.
On your second question, I presume you mean receipts rather than seats? I had the seats covered in leather when I bought it.
Rupert
HI HAVE THESE BEEN DONE THANKS Other advisories include corrosion to the jacking points, and a noisy gearbox pinion bearing. Have these been seen to?
Hi James,
Since 2019, the car has been maintained and serviced by Adrian Slowey at Pickup Motorsport. My advice is to call or email him – his contact details are at the top of the Pickup invoice (this site won’t let me provide them in this reply) – and ask him about the jack points. The gear shift mechanism was replaced fairly recently and changing gear is smooth and noiseless.
Rupert
Hi Brian on oil change is yes.
The car had its annual service at the same time as its MOT. Another Porsche owner on our street referred me to Pickup Motor Sport and Adrian Slowey and I discussed with him replacing the rear window and reactivating the sun roof.
The rear window didn’t seem worth the cost (to me) and the sun roof was something I postponed as I’d gone through some quite heavy spends.
My suggestion is to contact Adrian direct . The site won’t allow me to put his details here and you can find them at the top of the Pickup invoices.
My only regret with owning this car, other than selling it, is not having found Adrian earlier.
Rupert
Hi Rupert,
Do you have receipts for these services?
Brian
Brian,
I have all the receipts from Pickup Motor Sport since Adrian Slowey began maintaining the car in 2019 and scanned by Trade Classics.
Rupert
Hi Rupert, a couple of questions:
The service book is stamped up until the year 2000 when you acquired the vehicle, but the only other receipt showing a service is dated 1.7.2022. Has it been serviced (i.e. oil change etc.) in between?
Have you had any quotes for fixing the sun roof and heated rear window?
Other advisories include corrosion to the jacking points, and a noisy gearbox pinion bearing. Have these been seen to?
Thanks, Brian
