Introduction
Paul Wright
Produced for just over one year, the Triumph TR5 is one of the true British greats that offers a very rewarding driving experience.
Launched in 1967, the Triumph TR5 is often regarded as the most coveted among all TR models. Its design closely resembles the stunning TR4, crafted by Giovanni Michelotti, and it featured an innovative inline-six engine with mechanical fuel injection that Triumph marketed as the first British production sports car with fuel injection. This marked a significant advancement in terms of both performance and technological sophistication. The Lucas Mk II mechanical injection system, while straightforward, proved highly effective and transformed the TR into a swift and gratifying sports car. Its independent rear suspension further enhanced its agility and provided excellent road-holding capabilities.
Despite its numerous merits, the TR5 had a production run of just over a year, making it exceptionally rare. Additionally, due to its lighter weight compared to later models, it became the fastest TR ever produced.
This 1968 example has been well cared for the past ~16.5 years by our vendor, Robert, and presented extremely well - the rare British classic is ready to jump in and enjoy some open-top two-seater motoring.
This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Robert the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Do you have the original wheels and if so what type are they. Regards
Hi, No I don’t have the original wheels. They should be pressed steel rims, with Rostyle hub caps which are almost impossible to find. Cheers Bob
Please can you tell me what are the rivet/studs for on top of windscreen. Have you still got the original tr5 seats. Thanks
Hi, It used to have a Surrey top fitted at one time. These pop rivets are where the Aluminium capping fastened. It needed a different capping for a soft top. I was told the seats were original, and were part of the upgrade to a Tr6. Hope that helps

Hi. Please advise any history on the chassis? Have the outriggers been replaced and/or has there been any other welding done to the chassis? I note that the vehicle does not have a MOT certificate and has not had one since 2012. Is there any particular reason why you haven’t had the vehicle MOT’d ?
Thanks
The car has not been Motd since 2012 because that’s when I took it off the road to restore it. It’s had a body off restoration, where the chassis was stripped and new breast plates fitted, that being the only repair needed. It was then painted and Waxoyled
