Introduction
Glyn Parry
With a throaty V8 upfront, rear wheel drive and iconic exhaust notes - the Mustang is one of the most popular classic cars of all time.
It’s hard to imagine a car that made a more spectacular debut than the Mustang did in April 1964. Demand was so high that sales outstripped production by 6,000 vehicles by the end of the first day of sales. Its success was assured as one of the fastest-selling cars of all time. Gorgeous American Muscle styling is credited to Gale Halderman, David Ash, and Joe Oros of the Ford design studio, with the distinctive long bonnet and short boot that set the benchmark for the "Pony Car" concept.
This Ford was manufactured with a "C-Code" powertrain layout, offering a ~200BHP 289 cu in engine with a two-barrel carburettor as the base V8, coupled to Ford's three-speed automatic transmission. The Mustang comes to the market from ~8 years ownership, with just one former keeper registered in the UK, having been imported in 2015. With added power steering and front disc brakes, the car is a truly drivable classic.
