Arguably one of the pretties Mercedes of all time and in project form it makes for an exciting proposition.
The W113 SL made its debut in 1963 at the Geneva International Motorshow, replacing the iconic Gullwing. With its concave hardtop, the nickname "Pagoda" was born. The 230SL started the production, taking its base from the W111 saloon with a 30cm shorter wheelbase, fitted with a 2.3L inline-six which produced ~148bhp.
This is a UK RHD car that was bought by Mark as a silver wedding anniversary present for his wife in 2010 as a project, however sadly he has not had time to complete the works necessary and so has recently made the difficult decision to find the car a new owner.
As you will see, a lot of the hard work has already been done, the car is solid with most parts included, and importantly it comes with the original build sheet ("Birth Certificate") which Mark sourced from Mercedes.

Mark has asked me to pass on his reply:
The bumpers and grill are present with the car and can be viewed in the photographs and videos. Also as previously stated any items I know to be missing I’ve declared. As I’ve never attempted to complete the project, I can’t vouch for everything but would reiterate that I haven’t observed anything major not stated.
PS. Sorry I seem to be experiencing tech problems, hopefully now resolved. However, I wanted to get a reply to you as soon as possible and so asked Colin to relay a message.

Hello Jay. Thank you for your request. Yes both headlights are there. In good condition, although one needs a little tlc with the connection at the rear. The bezels are also present and in very good condition.

Thank you for the purchase of our 230sl Mercedes, this car came to us in a poorly maintained condition. It was running and driving but was showing its age.
The body was repainted along with the engine bay,
Complete new red interior including seats and door cards.
New black mohair hood.
It should be complete apart from a missing front screen.
So. I’ve identified parts I consider to be missing over and above.
These guys are still in business and specialise in nut and bolt restorations to concours standards of high end British sports cars.
Whilst this vehicle was in their itinerary before they moved premises, it wasn’t the main marque they specialised in.
However, I surmised that any work carried out would be to a good standard.

Thank you for your enquiry. I can’t answer this question 100% I’m afraid, because I’m selling it with everything I received when I bought it.
However, what I have observed is that what I know to be missing doesn’t seem to include any items that are difficult to source or prohibitively expensive to replace. Items missing I know of are windscreen, (Chrome finishers and rubber present), spare wheel, trim back for seat (chrome inserts present) trim panel behind passenger seat, petrol cap , horn push and accelerator pedal
There may be other items that I genuinely don’t know about. The major mechanical parts required to finish are there, master cylinders, shocks etc, but I can’t vouch for every nut and bolt. There is a good number of new parts still boxed from the previous owner however. Hope this helps you out?
