A series 1.5 with all the right ingredients and potential for improvement - a great and rare investment opportunity.
The Jaguar E-Type was an instant hit when presented to the world in March 1961. Without question one of the most iconic and influential cars in automotive history. Drawing heavily on the stunning lines of the D-Type Le Mans race car, Aircraft Engineer Malcolm Sayer, produced a design that was a triumph of both art and engineering.
This E-Type is one of the most desirable S2 models out there - it’s a late Series One FHC (Fixed Head Coupe), informally known as the Series 1.5 and is powered by Jaguars 4.2 Litre, straight-six, engine with an all synchromesh 4-speed gearbox. It has all the S1 designs, e.g. rear lights above the bumper and dashboard earlier toggle switches - the main exception is uncovered headlights.
Believed to have been restored in the mid to late 1980’s the car needs some attention to return it to its former glory. The paintwork has deteriorated although the tan leather interior is in good shape, and the car has a new MOT, so it can be used and enjoyed just as it is.
Coming to auction from ~20 years ownership, the car comes with a Heritage Certificate showing the original colour as "Opalescent Silver Blue" over a dark blue interior. Importantly the body, engine frame and engine numbers all match the certificate, making this car vey investable and a sound basis for restoration.
