Introduction
Dom Ginn
The versatile VW Type 2 is best known and loved in its most iconic form: the Campervan.
Following the huge success of the T1 Split-Screen Beetle of the late 1930s, 1967 saw the introduction of the second-generation VW T2, commonly known as the Bay Window. The Type 2 (T2) was the second production model from the German manufacturer Volkswagen. The T2 is slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, originally equipped with a ~47 BHP, 1.6L engine and a 12-volt electrical system. This fresh new design brought heaps of practicality while offering an affordable option for those looking to enjoy short weekends away, trips to the coast, or cross-country road trips without the added expense of accommodation.
This Type 2 (T1) "Splitscreen" camper was imported to the UK in 2008, ~40 years after its manufacture. It was fully restored, the engine too, and its colour was changed from the original red/white combination to an attractive and stand-out green over white. Coming to market from ~7 years of current ownership, this delightful camper is ready for many more adventures to come.

Why are there no pictures of the underside and the bodywork close-up? is there any rust or corrosion?
Sorry, but I just saw the pictures. thanks
Thisis is advertised on the pistonheads website with a phone No. can I assume the reserve on this vehicle is £28,950 as iv’e seen it advertised on piston heads website?
No, that isn’t the reserve on this site. Thanks
K
Hi Finn,
The advert on Pistonheads is our advert, the price is not the reserve, it is our guide price.
Thanks,
Colin.
Hi. Thanks. If you check photo 59 of the interior shots you’ll see the chassis no etc and ‘Made in Germany’. This can be checked on the VW site – you can then verify exact colour and original origin of the bus. I’m afraid I never looked that up as it wasn’t important to me but my mechanics did. Reduction boxes weren’t something I have done but assumed so.
Hello John. Lovely van. Can you please tell me where it was imported from and is it a 1967? Somewhere it says 1973 which would indicate a later Brazil made van. Also has it had the reduction boxes removed? Tks Mark
