Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Consigner and Editor

The definition of a modern classic, the Audi TT combines modern convenience with distinctive style.

The Audi TT Quattro offers a rare combination of classic car appeal and modern car reliability, making it a standout in today’s market. Blending style, driving finesse and image with the practicality of modern safety, reliability, and ergonomics, the TT is a future classic in the making.

First introduced in 1998, the TT was a revelation, one of the few cars to seamlessly transition from concept to production. Its distinctive design was the first to feature laser beam welding, which allowed for its sleek, seamless lines. Powered by reliable and proven powertrains, including the powerful ~247bhp 3.2 VR6 engine, the TT also boasts the world-renowned Quattro all-wheel-drive system. With sharp handling, a smooth V6 engine, and exceptional build quality, the TT combines substance with its unique style.

This 2004 Audi TT Quattro 3.2, finished in 'Mauritius Blue' with a black leather interior, is presented in smart condition. It comes with a good service history, having been kept in the same family for ~17 years. Recently serviced just 100 miles ago, it includes the full owner’s wallet and booklets, two keys, and an MOT valid until August 2025.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Charles the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

A impressively refined car with incredible grip, its a shame I'm not using it more.

Charles felt obligated to buy the car from a neighbour, whose mother originally purchased it in 2007. Impressed by its positive history and the careful use by the previous family, he decided to take it on.

However, he has now chosen to sell it, as he can't dedicate enough time to drive it regularly with his other cars taking priority.

Charles will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The contours and gentle curves of the TT are perfectly complemented by the deep blue paintwork.

Wheels and Tyres

The alloy wheels are cleanly presented with no significant signs of age.

Its fitted with mixed brands of tyres, they’re all under 10 years old, with the most recent fitting from 2024 - all have a decent and legal level of tread.

Bodywork

The panel work is flush with well-aligned shut lines, and all doors open and close smoothly. The bodywork is generally in good condition, with only a small, fixable dent on the passenger door.

Some components of the underside of the car shows signs of age and would benefit from some attention in the future. The boot floor, wheel wells and engine bay all look in solid condition.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The appealing Mauritius Blue paint has a consistent finish with a good lustre, though there are mild swirls and light surface marks that could likely be addressed by a detailer (mop and polish).

A light scuff on the nearside wing is present, but it doesn’t detract from the car’s overall look. Additionally, there’s some light road wear on the front of the car.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is generally in good condition, though there’s some early signs of lamination damage around the edges of the windscreen. All seals are intact and in good shape.

The lights and lenses are crack-free, though both headlamp lenses have clouded slightly. The body trim and bumpers are in decent condition and securely mounted.

Interior

The high-quality materials and careful ownership have played a significant role in preserving the cabin.

Seats and Carpets

The leather sports seats are in good condition, showing only mild wear on the bolsters and some creasing on the driver’s seat. The tipping mechanism for the driver’s seat requires attention - it still works, but can only be operated from the left-hand side.

The carpets and mats are in decent condition, with no signs of dampness.

The boot shows only light use.

Dashboard

The dashboard and centre console are in good condition, with no major signs of aging. The plastics are mostly free from marks, and the switches are all functional and have held up well. The door cards and headlining are also in good shape.

The steering wheel is in good condition, though the gear knob shows some marks.

Mechanics

The Audi TT is brilliant to drive and effortless to live with, its dynamics still shine a light.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine starts easily without hesitation and settles into a smooth, even idle. There are no warning lights on the dashboard, and after idling for 10 minutes, no issues were observed.

The 3.2-litre V6 engine is well-presented, showing signs of regular maintenance, with clean ancillaries and hoses in good condition.

The 6-speed gearbox is reported to function smoothly, engaging gears effortlessly without any issues.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension handles the roads well, providing a smooth ride without any knocks or vibrations from the wheels.

The car brakes firmly, with no judders or pulling. A mild grinding noise was heard from the rear wheels at low speeds, but it faded quickly, likely due to the car not being used actively.

The Drive

The TT drives effortlessly, with dynamics comparable to a more modern car, thanks to its well-tuned chassis. It’s brisk and agile, offering impressive grip and a firm ride, all while remaining free of rattles - showcasing the TT’s excellent build quality.

The steering is precise, with no negative feedback, and the car corners smoothly without any play, wobbles, or unwanted noises. It pulls effortlessly, accompanied by a purposeful exhaust tone. Since Charles has owned the car, it has been reliable, with no reported issues regarding oil pressure or engine temperature.

Electrics and Other

All electrical components of the TT are said to be in working order as far as Charles is aware. The window washer bottle doesn’t retain fluid, but aside from that, the car is free of leaks.

Charles has also addressed the single MOT advisory by replacing the rear registration plate. The original plate can be supplied with the car.

History and Paperwork

A regular service schedule, along with consistent maintenance, has kept this TT in tip-top condition.

Originally sold by Edinburgh Audi in November 2004, the car comes with documentation detailing all of its previous owners. It was purchased by the previous owner’s mother from Cardiff Audi in 2007 and remained in the family until 2024. The car has 12 service stamps, with the most recent one performed about 100 miles ago, along with the replacement of the ABS sensor.

The car also includes a comprehensive folder of invoices, mainly for maintenance, old MOT certificates and servicing. Notable work includes the replacement of the alternator belt and tensioner in 2022, as well as a track rod end. Historical invoices also mention the replacement of the ignition coil, coolant sensor, coil springs, suspension arms, and the 2007 bill of sale.

The car comes with the full owner’s wallet and booklet, two keys, and an MOT valid until August 2025.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
