The Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione I is one of the most legendary hot hatches ever built, representing the peak of Lancia’s dominance in rallying. Derived from the highly successful Delta HF Integrale, the Evo I was developed to comply with Group A rally homologation requirements and was introduced in late 1991. It carried forward Lancia’s formidable motorsport pedigree, having already secured multiple World Rally Championship (WRC) titles. With its aggressive flared wheel arches, wider track, and improved aerodynamics, the Evo I had a commanding presence on the road and an undeniable rally-bred charisma.

The Evo I cemented Lancia’s dominance in the WRC. It played a key role in securing the 1992 Manufacturers' Championship, marking Lancia’s sixth consecutive title—an unmatched achievement in rally history. Today, the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo I is highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors alike. Its combination of rally pedigree, stunning design, and exhilarating performance makes it one of the most iconic and desirable homologation specials ever produced.

This stunning example comes to market from ~3 years, it comes at just the right time for anyone looking to take ownership of such an iconic car after having had in excess of ~£20,000 spent at Tanc Barratt between 2022 - 2023, and with the engine having been rebuilt at Tanc Barratt in 2019. This example is an Evo 8v Kat, produced specifically for markets like Switzerland where emission controls were stricter. It has a current MOT valid until 29.07.2025.

Meet the owner

The Lancia Delta Integrale Evo has been on my bucket list of cars to own for several years.

For many of us, the Lancia Delta Integrale has been or still is a dream car to own; those boxy arches, turbocharged engine and a rally-bred legend close, of course, to the Audi Quattro, but we’re not splitting hairs. After searching for some time, Paul spotted this Integrale for sale three years ago and jumped at the chance to buy it to scratch that Integrale itch. That itch became somewhat of a big scratch, and Paul ended up taking the Integrale to the next level by spending more than ~£20,000. Tanc Barratt brought the bodywork and mechanics up to scratch, following on from the previous keeper, who also spent more than ~£15,000 with Tanc Barratt on a fully rebuilt engine.

The result is a fantastic condition 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1, which has been a dream come true for Paul. Exterior

Flared arches, bonnet vents, and a wide stance - like a rally warrior in a tailored Italian suit, ready to tango with tarmac.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels have been replaced with a set of Speedline Corse 17-inch alloy wheels. These are in excellent condition, with no damage to the rims or faces.

The tyres are a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4, all of which have a good amount of tread remaining. Take a look at the images for a closer look.

Bodywork

The Lancia's bodywork is excellent. All the panels appear to align as they should, and no dings or dents were spotted when looking around the car. The carbon fibre roof spoiler is also adjustable.

Paint

Having had some paintwork by Tanc Barratt in 2023 matching the original Rosso Monza and a completely new set of decals fitted, the Integrale’s bodywork is in excellent condition.

Glass and Trim

The windows are all in good condition, with only the usual minor age-related marks, as you would expect. All of the window seals appear in good condition.

The front indicators and rear lights are fitted with darker lenses, bringing a cleaner look to the car.

Interior

A lovely cockpit of ‘90s rally magic - Recaro seats, chunky Momo wheel, and just enough buttons to make you feel like a WRC hero.

Seats and Carpets

Finished with grey perforated Alcantara, the Recaro seats are in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. The rear seat and door cards are also in fantastic condition with no signs of damage.

Throughout the car, the carpets are clean and tidy. There is a small amount of wear to the fitted mats, but nothing excessive. Inside the boot, the spare wheel and cover are present, along with an Audison subwoofer.

Dashboard

The dashboard in the Lancia is in excellent condition and free from any splits or cracks. All of the instruments are working correctly, and the odometer shows a reading of 181,818 kilometres.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A twin-spoke MOMO steering wheel has been fitted with a centre stripe to ensure it's in the right direction as you come sideways out of a corner on a gravel stage (if you were brave enough, that is).

The white "cue ball" gear knob is in excellent condition.

Mechanics

The 8-valve engine is a turbocharged torque monster—punchy, eager, and always ready to go.

Engine and Gearbox

In 2019, the engine received a no-expense-spared rebuild with forged pistons, H-section con rods, and Trimetal main bearings. Tanc Barratt carried out the work. In 2023, Paul had a four-branch manifold fitted, which is Zircotech ceramic-coated. The engine fires up without hesitation and runs with no issues reported. On the road, it sounds amazing, especially once it's on boost.

At the same time as the engine rebuild, the gearbox was stripped and fitted with new seals and bearings. It was upgraded again in 2023 and strengthened with new bearings and a complete high-load clutch kit. The gear change is precise, and the Lancia pulls strongly through the gears.

Suspension and Brakes

With the extra performance, the brakes were upgraded in 2021 with a Tarox 6-pot conversion to the front and Tarox Sport rear calipers. As expected, the car comes to a stop quickly with no issues reported.

The suspension was completely overhauled in 2020, with everything removed, powder-coated, and new bushes fitted. The car handles superbly, with no knocks or bangs to mention.

The Drive

Driving the 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo I feels like grabbing a rally car by the scruff of its neck—grippy, growly, and gloriously raw. The turbo spools, the all-wheel drive claws at the road, and every twist of the wheel feels like a stage in the WRC. It’s not just driving—it’s an event, with every boost hiss, wastegate flutter, and gear change egging you on for just one more corner!

Electrics and Other

All switchgear appears to be in good condition and is reported to be working correctly. Paul has fitted a flip-out Pioneer head unit, which is connected to upgraded speakers and an Audison subwoofer.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~3 year ownership, and with over £30,000 of invoices from Tanc Barratt in the last ~6 years alone make up a small but very important part of the Integrale Evo 1's history.

The history file for the Lancia is extensive, with plenty of photographs documenting the engine rebuild and suspension work at the end of the 2010's. These highlight the time and money invested in this legendary car, backed up by some big number invoices from Tanc Barratt, who have carried out a considerable amount of work and know the car extremely well.

    Hi , I just wanted to say what a fantastic looking car , I was looking for one last year , but gave up . Wish I knew about this one … I brought a 2018 AMG GTS instead last year , a beast of a machine.

    Hi Brucey, AMGs are awesome i just got rid of E63s estate and it was as good as a 911 for me, shame you cant be tempted here but i agree it looks perfect to me, all i can say is that whoever wins this better be ready for celeb style status as there is nothing that ive ever experienced like it, you get so much attention its unreal, literally cheered on! its mental how much love there is for this car, you could park next to the most expensive Lambo and it would get all the attention.

    Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

    Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes.
