Introduction
Kulraj Salh
Small, nimble, sporty and a real looker, this stylish Alfa is the definitive 60's Italian classic experience.
The 1950s marked Alfa Romeo’s move to refined sports cars that contrasted with the large and luxury cars that had established the company’s reputation before the Second World War. The Giulietta was introduced at the 1954 Turin Motor Show, showing that Alfa’s shift in focus was a wise one and it sold in large numbers and in many different body styles. With competition never far from focus, Alfa also believed that their Giuliettas, both the two-seat spider and the Bertone-bodied coupe 'Sprint', would find success with their eager engines and lively handling. They were right, as the Giulietta proved a very popular choice among both enthusiasts and amateur racers on both sides of the Atlantic.
In 1961 the Giulietta was updated a second time. With revised engines and new exhaust systems; output and performance was increased as a result. With the new engines, the car could reach a speed of almost ~99mph, an impressive achievement for cars of the time. At the front of the car, square mesh side grilles were pieced together with the centre shield, and at the rear there were larger tail lights. Today, Giuliettas are valued for their beauty, great responsiveness, sophisticated but sound engines and sheer fun factor.
The model on show here is a lovely example of the "Sprint". Showing a mileage of ~44,001 miles, it was imported by the current owners from South Africa where it was first sold, and was part of a fairly sizeable Alfa Romeo collection. The car has had an older restoration at some point in its life, and was imported to the UK in 2018, and has more recently been on the Isle of Man. It presents in lovely condition for an older restored car, worth a good look if you're in the market for one of these.

Hi Emmajane I second Monty55’s comments & request re: instruments, also please will you confirm that your offer to deliver to the UK mainland is included in the sale price please?
If not, please confirm cost to do this.
Many thanks
Andrew
Hi AJS,
I can answer the question about collection, as mentioned in the listing, Emmajane has said she is happy to get the car to Skelmersdale near Wigan, at her cost.

Hi Kulraj many thanks. Please will you check in with Emmajane re: instruments & confirm…l guess she’s not been looking at the site for the past day.
Thanks again Andrew
Hi Andrew,
I actually visited this one, on the day the 2 gauges we couldn’t confirm were working were the oil temp and water temp, as we only ran the car up and down the road as per the video, as it isn’t one that Emmajane drove often at all compared to the later 105 series cars.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Kulraj – Trade Classics
Hi Kulraj thanks again. My opinion is that these gauges are likely inop. as your road test, altho’ brief would have brought the temps of both off the min. stop but not to full working temp.
Best Andrew
Emmajane, she’s a lovely example. Could you please confirm that all the instrument gauges work. I wasn’t quite sure after viewing the driving video as only the oil pressure gauge and rev counter were mentioned. Thanks.

Kulraj, I agree with AJS. I do think Trade Classics should have been more transparent on this issue and given the lack of response from Emmajane, in the query raised yesterday, I don’t think it would have been too difficult for Trade Classic to have called their client for clarification and reported back to the potential bidders.
Hi Monty55,
I’m really surprised to get this comment. We’ve asked the seller to respond (but they haven’t yet), in the video we say we’re not sure all the gauges are working, in the write-up we’ve said the same too, I’m not really sure how much more we could say. It actually might be the case that they are working, given for example oil pressure, speedo, rev counter, fuel warning light and level were all working.
We think we go above and beyond to document cars as best possible, so stand by this.

Kulraj, I’m now somewhat confused. In your earlier response you said: “I actually visited this one, on the day the 2 gauges we couldn’t confirm were working were the oil temp and water temp”. Now you seem to be saying that all gauges and instruments bar the water temp gauge do work, so which is it? I’m just concerned that if the car is to be driven away on collection. Non operating gauges would be a concern.
In addition, if the vendor has owned the car for 4 years I’m sure she would know which gauges are operational.
Hi Monty55,
If you read the listing etc, you’ll see the car has been sitting in a museum for some time, and we mention in the video on the road that it’s one the vendor hasn’t driven much/at all.

Kulraj – Trade Classics
Kulraj, being in the trade it’s a given that I read the listing thoroughly. If the car has been driven at all by the vendor, she would know what gauges work and which do not. In most of your driving videos you are at pains to show working gauges, yet you didn’t with this car, so often times you need to look at what’s left out in the detail, to understand the likely facts. I’ve had significant experience with online auctions and most vendors are very quick to respond to bidders questions, so again, it is a bit odd the vendor has not responded.
Hi Monty55,
Yep, as per what you can see in the videos and photos, and the write-up/answers I’ve given in the comments from my time visiting the car. I think my answer above clarifies it. Hope that helps, if not, apologies on my behalf, Emmajane may log on still and give her view.
Best,
