Introduction

Paul Wright
Professional Consigener

That tiny Italian firecracker, the Alfa Romeo 4C, decided that subtlety was for cappuccinos, not carbon fibre.

The Alfa Romeo 4C is a lightweight, mid-engine sports car designed for pure driving excitement. Weighing just over 1,100 kg (2,500 lbs) thanks to its carbon fibre monocoque chassis, the 4C is powered by a 1.7-litre turbocharged inline-four engine producing ~237 bhp. Paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, it sprints from 0-60 mph in around ~4.5 seconds. With razor-sharp handling and a raw, unfiltered driving experience, the 4C embodies Alfa Romeo's racing heritage, rewarding the driver with exceptional feedback through the steering wheel.

This stunning example of a 4C comes to market with just over ~10,000 miles on the clock, has a current MOT valid until 04.10.2025 and is in exceptional condition.

This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Peter the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Moving from another well-known Italian sports car, the Alfa Romeo 4C hasn’t been a disappointment.

Since owning the Alfa, Peter has had great fun with the car. A completely different beast from his previous Ferrari, which was more of a cruiser, this pocket rocket is all about spur-of-the-moment thrills - and thrilling it has been.

Unfortunately, due to a house inheritance requiring unavoidable modernisation, Peter must reluctantly part with this desirable Alfa Romeo 4C to fund the work, he will be available to answer any questions in the comment section below.

Exterior

Like an Italian supercar shrunk in the wash - resulting in a delightfully aggressive little road-going rocket.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the factory classic Alfa five-hole alloy wheels, which are in superb condition with no marks or damage to mention. Shod with Pirelli P-Zero AR tyres, these are the specific correct Alfa Romeo ones, and are dated manufactured in 2021, there is plenty of tread remaining too.

Please see the image gallery for more detailed images.

Bodywork

The bodywork of the Alfa is made from Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC), a lightweight material.

The panel gaps look visually even across the car, as you would expect and of course, one of the Alfa’s main selling points is its carbon fibre monocoque chassis.

We've provided high-resolution images and videos detailing our observations, so please take the time to review all media files for a comprehensive view of the car’s condition.

Paint

Finished in the optional extra shade of 'Competizione Red', the paintwork is, as we’re sure you’ll agree, fantastic. There are a couple of very minor chips we noticed - one on the edge of the driver’s door and another on the passenger-side door handle - both easily accessible for touch-ups.

Images have been taken from various angles to present the car as you would see it in person. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos to form your own opinion on the paint’s condition.

Glass and Trim

All windows are in good order, with no noticeable scratches.

The headlights and rear lights are also in excellent condition with no damage.

Interior

A place of dreams for any carbon fibre enthusiast!

Seats and Carpets

Finished in black leather with an embroidered Alfa Romeo logo and red stitching, the seats are in excellent condition, showing no signs of heavy use - looking consistent with the mileage.

A set of factory 4C mats are fitted, protecting the stunning carbon fibre floor, and they remain in good condition.

The boot is clean and tidy and just about big enough for an overnight bag.

Dashboard

As expected, the dashboard is free from scuffs or marks. The LCD instrument display works correctly, with no warning lights displayed.

The odometer shows a reading of ~10,721 miles at the time of our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The flat-bottomed steering wheel shows little sign of use - flappy paddles are fitted behind the wheel and work as expected.

Please see the interior gallery for more images.

Mechanics

That 4C engine - it's a turbocharged espresso shot of pure, delightful pop-pop-whoosh!

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with a 1.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the 4C produces ~237 bhp and is capable of reaching ~0-62 mph in just ~4.2 seconds from a launch start.

The engine fires up without hesitation, it has a carbon fibre tipped Quicksilver resonated exhaust system, which is virtually straight through. Peter told us the exhaust is designed to cut out the drone at motorway speeds that the standard exhaust is known for.

Whether in automatic or paddle-shift mode, gear changes are smooth, and the car pulls exceptionally well through the six-speed gearbox. Peter told us the car drives without issue and maintains proper engine temps in traffic etc.

Suspension and Brakes

It’s built to handle, and it certainly does!

The go-kart-like handling of the 4C is fantastic. Yes, you can feel the road, and yes, that’s how it's designed - delivering pure, raw driving pleasure. Peter told us the car has had the much needed Alfa Works front geometry correction blocks fitted.

The large factory fitted 4-pot Brembo callipers wrap around drilled brake discs, bringing the lightweight car to a rapid stop.

The Drive

The 4C does exactly what Alfa Romeo set out to achieve! Reminiscent of a lightweight Italian sports car from decades past, with its unassisted steering, you feel every nuance of the road, making cornering incredibly precise and engaging.

The turbocharged 1.7-litre inline-four packs a punch, producing an intoxicating sound as some wastegate flutter emerges into the cabin when you lift off the throttle. The boost kicks back in, propelling the featherweight carbon-fibre chassis forward with impressive urgency, accompanied by a raspy, aggressive exhaust note.

With stiff suspension and minimal sound insulation, the sense of speed is heightened. For driving purists, the 4C offers an unfiltered, visceral connection to the road - something increasingly rare in modern sports cars.

Electrics and Other

Inside, the Alfa is relatively simple but has everything you need - electric windows, air conditioning, and a range of driving modes displayed on the LCD screen.

A Sony CD/DAB head unit is fitted, but honestly, once you hear the turbo woosh and wastegate flutter, you won’t be listening to the radio!

As far as Peter is aware all systems are working properly, including AC, all dash lights illuminate and extinguish as expected on start up.

History and Paperwork

Six services have been completed over just ~10,000 miles.

The original 4C presentation pack is included, containing a detailed book on the design of this Italian sports car and a certificate of authenticity. Also included are the owner’s manual, service book, and two keys.

There are invoices for servicing and work carried out, with the most recent service completed on 14/11/2023. The car also has a current MOT, valid until 04/10/2025.

Coming to market after ~5 months with Peter, this stunning example, with just ~10,721 miles covered, will almost certainly turn out to be an investment car for one lucky bidder!

We’ve conducted our usual seller checks, including photo ID, V5, and have also actioned a history check on the vehicle. This is a professional check by HPI that highlights whether the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or has any outstanding finance. Please note: This does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our view of the car based on information from the seller above. As you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in high-resolution detail – this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. Please sit back, have a cuppa, and take your time to review everything in this listing to assess the vehicle's condition.

Viewings are also welcomed for all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time – we just need to speak to you first and receive valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you’re unsure about, no matter how small, please ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can’t be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car – just like in a traditional auction house.

Is the car due for a cambelt change? The last I can see in the paperwork was January 20, so at 5 years max that would be due now, unless already done(?).

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
