Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Consigner and Editor

The last of the old-school analogue luxury V8 sports cars, one that helped propel Aston back to the front.

Arguably one of the best-looking cars of the modern era, it was also Aston Martin's leanest and most agile model. When first unveiled in 2005, Aston Martin was going through a renaissance, thanks to huge investments into production and engineering. Fortunately, the Vantage came out of the other side without watering down the analogue feel of the brand. Powered by the proven AJ-8 V8 engine, the powerplant had established itself as a reliable yet punchy unit while still retaining that charismatic V8 engine tone. You walk away from the Vantage with the impression that it retains Aston Martin's signature decadence and style. Numerous improvements were carried out to the Vantage V8 over its lifetime, the significant moment was the upgraded ~420BHP engine and improved suspension from 2008.

First registered in April 2010, this cleanly presented 4.7-litre V8 Vantage is finished in "Meteorite Grey" with a "Moon Shadow" interior and cream leather seats. With just 65,315 miles on the clock, it comes with 11 service stamps and a MOT to March 2025. It is a superb opportunity to obtain one of the most beautiful and lovely-sounding modern classics.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Jeremy the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The sound of the V8 on the open road is highly addictive!

The Aston Martin Vantage has always been on Jeremy's radar. Taken in by the styling, sound of the engine and Aston quality, he treated himself to this car earlier this year.

Used as a weekend tool, a recent relocation to Abingdon has meant that a combination of a lack of use and not enough parking space has forced him to sell. Jeremy will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

A new design philosophy acorss the Aston Martin range for this generation, now the timeless and pert styling of the V8 Vantage has aged beautifully.

Wheels and Tyres

The 19” 10 spoke alloys present well, with some light road wear spotted on the nearside front alloy, but otherwise in fine condition.

Fitted with three Continental tyres dated from 2018 and one 2023 Firemax tyre, they all have legal tread as pictured. Take a look through the gallery to see the detail.

Bodywork

The body's composite and aluminium panels are free from damage, with no obvious signs of corrosion that you can often see. They are flush with even gaps. The doors open and close without issues, and the driver-side door strut is a little weak. The car's underside is in good shape, with no issues noted on the floor pan.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The "Meteorite Grey" finish has consistent coverage, with a healthy gloss and strong lustre. No signs of outdoor residue were noted on the car. There are a handful of minor surface marks on the body, a patch of mild paint discolouration on the bonnet. We also spotted a few stone chips on the nose of the car, but otherwise presented neatly.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good condition with no major chips/marks to note, there is a little de-lamination on the top corner of the windscreen and mild glass discolouration on the base of the rear screen.

The taillight lenses are clear and have a small amount of condensation and the front headlamp covers show minor surface marks. The rest of the trim is in good shape. The bumpers are well-mounted and flush to the body.

Interior

The interior quality is exceptional and the cabin has worn its years very well.

Seats and Carpets

The interior is very cleanly presented with no major wear to note, and well above the expectations of a car of this age.

We spotted a few light marks and mild creasing on the front seats. The carpets are in good shape with no signs of dampness. The boot is cleanly presented with little signs of use.

Dashboard

There are a few minor marks around the glove box, but otherwise, the dashboard presents well. All dials and controls are in good shape and are all said to work as expected.

The door cards and interior trim are free of significant marks and the Alcantara headlining is in excellent shape.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The multifunction steering wheel is in good condition wrapped in black leather, with no issues noted on the paddles. The centre console buttons and surrounding area for the automatic gearbox present well as pictured too.

Mechanics

Thanks to its potent V8 power, the Vantage has plenty of grunt, with the appropriate noise to match.

Engine and Gearbox

The car started up without hesitation, the engine idled smoothly with no unwanted noises. Condensation from the exhaust cleared up soon after the engine warmed up, with no observation of fumes noted at any point. The panel warning lights all remained off during our visit and there were no fluid leaks observed.

The Sportshift transmission is seamless in operation, with slick changes and no signs of delay. Take a look at our video to see and hear the car in action on a short drive.

Suspension and Brakes

The car drove well, without any knocks or thuds from the wheels. Typically riding firm, it corners impressively with no negative feedback.

The Aston's brakes felt even and free of drama. No squeals or vibrations were noted. The steering wheel stayed true when slowing down.

The Drive

At low speeds, the 4.7-litre V8 engine sounded tight and free of rattles or tapping, with Jeremy ensuring that the engine was warmed up properly before taking the car up to 50mph. He has been pleased with the car's reliability and has not experienced any headaches with the engine temperature or oil pressure.

The Vantage felt planted on the move, gripping the road with confidence. We were treated to a 40 mph back lane drive, demonstrating the car's agility and smoothness. The engine pulls smoothly, with Jeremy briefly provoking the engine to allow us to hear the glorious V8.

Electrics and Other

We didn't test all the electrical components of the car, but the original sat-nav unit has been recently repaired and operates as it should. Jeremy told us everything else was working to his knowledge.

History and Paperwork

The car comes with a comprehensively stamped service book, 4 former keepers, modest mileage and well presented.

First registered by Aston Martin main dealer Lancaster Cambridge in April 2010, the car comes with 11 Service stamps, with 9 coming from the Aston Martin themselves. Jeremy bought the car in April 2024 from a prestige car dealer and has added around ~3,000 miles since then. The car was last serviced in 2022 and it comes with an MOT to March 2025. The car is sold with its Aston Martin Service book, crystal starter key and a standard key.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned an HPI check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
