Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional photographer

Handcrafted with style, this grand touring luxury supercar offers a blend of elegance, practicality and pace.

If craftsmanship, exclusivity, and comfort motivate owning a modern classic, then the Aston Martin Rapide has to feature high on your wish list. The Rapide was built at the Magna Steyr production plant in Graz, Austria, until 2012. This company specialises in contract car-building for multiple manufacturers, and as a result, the Rapide is probably the best built and most reliable modern Aston Martin. Being an Aston Martin there’s plenty of substance behind the aesthetics, with thunderous V12 power and a focused driving experience. Unveiled in 2010, this grandest of tourers took its place amongst the arguably best-looking series of cars of its era, ably accommodating four people, the rear seats fold flat to make this an extremely practical and roomy 2-seater shooting brake! For the occupants, there is the sculptured cabin architecture and competition-style dials, garnished with lavish materials and quality. For those looking in from the outside, it has to be considered one of the world's best-looking 4-door saloons.

Finished in "Mariana Metallic Blue" with a "Sandstone" leather interior, this 2011 Aston Martin Rapide is beautifully presented, coming to market after almost ~ 6.5 years with our vendor. It has a great Aston Martin history and only ~45,215 miles on the clock. Recently serviced at Aston Martin Sevenoaks, it comes with two keys and an MOT to August 2025.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Having four doors is hardly noticeable, the advantage being it is longer than any two door sports car and therefore fills the description of being a Grand Touring car.

The car comes to market from ~6.5 years ownership with David. He tells us "The colour scheme of Mariana metallic blue with Sandstone interior is obviously THE stand out and gentleman’s choice, It is exactly the same car and colour scheme that Lucy Worsley, the curator of the Royal Museums drives. Need I say more!".

He had the car serviced in August by the local Aston Martin main dealer, and is now selling it due to a recent lack of use. David will be happy to answer any questions about his car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Finished in Mariana metallic blue, the Rapide exudes style and grace, and this example looks stunning thanks to its beautiful presentation.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the factory 20” alloys, which are in excellent condition, with no significant marks or road wear.

The car is fitted with manufacturer-recommended Bridgestone Potenza tyres, dating from 2017. They have plenty of tread, evenly distributed. View the gallery to see more detail.

Bodywork

The exterior is neatly presented, with a positive panel fit and even shut lines. A dab of corrosion was observed on the driver's side door handle, typical for this era of Aston Martin, but otherwise we didn't notice dents or damage. The car's underside appears in good shape, with no problems with the boot floor or engine bay.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The "Mariana Metallic Blue" paint finish has a deep healthy lustre and a consistent hue. There are a handful of light stone chips on the nose of the car and some light scuffs at the bottom of the front bumper, but otherwise it presents very well, and the colour is a welcome change from the shades of grey you often see.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass, lights and trim are all in good order as pictured. The bumpers are flush to the body too.

Interior

Immaculately finished inside, there's a mix of soft English leather, stunningly designed seats and elegant metal switches to greet you.

Seats and Carpets

Lavishly furnished with "Caithness Sandstorm" leather, the ventilated seats are in excellent condition with no significant wear.

The black carpets are clean throughout and bone-dry. The driver-side mat has mild age-related scuffs. The boot condition suggests minimal use.

Dashboard

The dashboard is in great shape, with no impediments to the facia, padding, trim or door cards. The switchgear, controls and dials are neatly presented and everything is said to function as they should. The Alcantara headlining is free of damage.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The multifunction steering wheel is wrapped in black leather and presents well. The paddle-shifters mounted to the steering column are also in good condition, as are the gear selection buttons on the centre console.

Mechanics

Supremely confident on the road, there's ~470BHP of effortless power on tap.

Engine and Gearbox

The cold start did not pose any problems: it started up easily, with no dashboard warning lights. Idling smoothly with no undulations, the car shows no signs of unwanted noises. The engine is neatly presented, reinforcing its positive maintenance schedule.

The six-speed Touchtronic II automatic gearbox operates without issue, powering through the gears without delay or a negative feel. Watch the video to see and hear the car in action.

Suspension and Brakes

David has not reported issues with the dampers. He tells us that it's much more forgiving than any other Aston Martin model, not rigid and bumpy like the two door sports models, very comfortable.

The car slows down without drama or pulling at the steering wheel. No unwanted vibrations or wobbles were observed, and the car is effortless and smooth in its operation.

The Drive

The car is supremely comfortable and composed at any speed, yet it still feels ready to pounce at any moment. Sitting in the V12 Rapide is a genuinely special occasion, the four individually sculpted sports seats feel snug as you admire the hand-stitched leather and intricate details of the cabin.

Beautifully balanced and guided by its adaptive suspension, the car was free from knocks or unwanted noises. The car pulls well, with an even engine tone. It grips confidently, with no reported issues with the steering: David added that it is noticeably light. He demonstrated that the gearbox operates as it should, with no problems with engine temperature or oil pressure.

Electrics and Other

The car is fitted with a sixteen-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and uses a Garmin sat-nav system. David us all the electrics are working, as far as he is aware.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~6.5 year ownership, the car has a full Aston Martin dealer servicing history, just serviced in August, and presents beautifully in a very smart specification.

Registered in March 2011, the car has a great Aston Martin service history, showing nine main dealer stamps. Aside from several servicing invoices, the Rapide also has a handful of recent MOT certificates. Coming to market after almost ~6 and a half years with David, the Rapide is sold with its leather booklet, two keys, a current MOT valid until August 2025 and was serviced by Aston Martin Sevenoaks only ~25 miles ago.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi David. Is the august 2024 stamp in the book as I can’t see it in the photos? Also the listing states the service mileage was inaccurate (mileage being lower than the MOT before it?)

Hi
In the pictures there looks like a bit of scuffing and what look like larger stone chips on bonnet. Can you confirm this??

Hello David. Have the brake pads/discs been replaced? If so at what mileage. Is there any paint bubbling anywhere? Is there any delimitation to the glass anywhere?
Thank you
Johnny
