Introduction

Colin Bashford
Professional Consigner

When Aston Martin squeezed their 6.0L V12 into the smallest car in their lineup, you know it's going to be something special.

Originally released in 2005, the Vantage was fitted with a 4.3L V8 producing ~380BHP, which gave a 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds. In 2009 the V12 from the DBS was dropped into the Vantage, which increased the power to ~510BHP cutting the 0-60mph sprint down by ~0.6 seconds.

This particular example is a V12 Vantage Coupe Special Editions finished in the pearlescent "Morning Frost White", it has only covered ~12,250 miles in its ~10 year life with only 3 former keepers. Coming to market after ~9 months ownership, and Aston Martin servicing record, with the manual gearbox, and with transferrable Aston Martin Premium Warranty still remaining, it's one for the collectors and drivers alike.

This listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Chris the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The noise of the V12 is addictive it begs to be unleashed, you need to be careful though as that torque can bite.

Having bought the V12 Vantage in November last year after selling his F430 Spider with us last October, Chris has taken the Vantage to the Le Mans Classic, with the AMOC. On the trip, of around 2,800 miles, the Vantage didn't falter at all, completing the miles with ease Chris told us.

The only issue Chris has had with the car was a TPMS fault, which he sorted just after picking the car up. Chris has enjoyed the car however he wants to go back to open top motoring, so is looking for a V12 Vantage Roadster.

Chris told us he may be able to deliver the car himself and it open to discussion about it, he will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

Instantly recognisable with the bonnet vents and carbon fibre trim, you know this Vantage has that little bit extra.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with 19" 10 spoke Aston Martin wheels from factory, they are painted "Liquid Silver" from factory and present in very good condition.

The tyres were changed when Chris picked up the car, he has only covered ~3,000 miles since so the tyres looked to have plenty life left in them. They are a matching set of Pirelli P-Zero 255/35R19 at the front and 295/30R19 at the rear, all are dated 2021. Please have a look at the photos and video below to asses the condition of the wheels and tyres for yourself.

Bodywork

The bodywork on the Vantage was in great condition, we didn't notice any dents or scratches on any of the panels. All panels gaps and shut lines look great too as you would expect. We didn't notice any visible signs of corrosion around the car either.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Specified from new in the beautiful "Morning Frost White" colour, the paint is a pearlescent finish and changes in different lighting condition. The paint was also in great condition, we didn't notice any swirl marks on the car, and no other damage either. Chris told us he blow dries the car to avoid touching the paint. The paint really did pop in the bright sunlight we had during our visit. As mentioned previously, Chris had the car ceramic coated at Aston Martin when he purchased it.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

Glass around the Vantage was in great condition, we didn't notice any signs of stone chips or cracks. This Vantage features a lot of carbon fibre trim, from the front splitter to bonnet vents and rear diffuser, it all looked in great condition too. The other chrome trim on the window surrounds and wing vents looked in great condition too, as were the grilles in the vents and on the rear bumper.

Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

Interior

Inside a mixture of leather and carbon fibre greet the driver, Aston Martin know how to trim their cars.

Seats and Carpets

The leather seats looked great condition, "Obsidian Black" leather with contrast stitching from factory, they show very minimal signs of wear as you would expect from a car with such low mileage. We didn't notice any rips or tears in either of the seats.

The carpets too looked in great condition, we didn't notice any stains in any of the carpets. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

The dials looked in great condition, we didn't notice any scratches in the glass of the dials. The normal Aston layout of clockwise speedometer with an anti-clockwise rev counter, something you see through the range.

The top of the dash is wrapped in matching leather, and the centre console has carbon fibre trim with the sat nav screen rotating out of the centre console at the touch of a button. The headlining and pillars on this car are trimmed in grey Alcantara from factory.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Aston Martin leather steering wheel looked in great condition, wrapped in a complimentary black leather to the rest of the cabin.

The aluminium 6-speed gearstick takes centre stage in this car, it did have some marks to the surface, typical for this model and the DBS alike.

Mechanics

What a sound track, the V12 is no shrinking violet and has performance to match delivering ~510BHP.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine barked into life at first attempt, with a distinctive V12 symphony. Out on the road with Chris, the engine didn't miss a beat, the torque seemed to be available with no effort at all.

To many petrolheads, a manual gearbox is coveted, especially when mated to a naturally aspirated V12 it becomes very special indeed. The gearbox performed well on the road too, going through the gears without issue, Chris told us he loves the mechanical noise of the gearbox. Please take a look at the cold start video below to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

The Vantage had a comfortable ride, it was firm but you expect that in a performance car like this. We didn't hear any unusual/unwanted noises from the suspension.

This car is fitted with carbon ceramic brakes, we didn't test them properly on our short drive but Chris assured us they could stop the car very quickly and don't need to be up to temperature before they work. Chris also told us as long as you keep abrasive cleaners away from the discs they should last ~100,000 miles according to Aston Martin. Please take a look at the on the road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

The Drive

As mentioned above the Vantage performed very well on our drive with Chris, the V12 has a vast amount of torque even when just tickling the throttle, and the manual gearbox makes you feel connected to the process.

The chassis felt tight giving a firm but not too harsh ride, with the carbon ceramic brakes, giving you confidence that they'll work when called upon. To see the car in motion please take a look at the on the road video below.

Electrics and Other

We tested most of the electrics when out with Chris, everything worked as expected, this includes; clocks, radio, sat nav, windows, and air con. Chris Assured us that everything electrical was in good working order. The car comes with 3 sets of keys; 1 totally unmarked crystal key, 1 day to day use, 1 manual key in case of battery failure. In addition to this, the car has the radio and alarm owners reset card, a transferable Global Telemetrics tracker, the wheel change tool-set and locking stud adaptor, and a trickle charge connector cable.

Sport mode was also working, Chris told us it makes a big difference to the throttle response and also the volume of the exhaust. The digital display on the dashboard was working, however the shutter speed of the camera seems to have been too quick to catch the full display on some of the images.

History and Paperwork

With only ~12,250 miles on the clock, specified from new with carbon ceramic brakes and the all important manual gearbox, this beautiful V12 Vantage has investment potential.

Having 9 main dealer stamps in its service book and covering ~6,000 miles in the last 6 years the car is arguably barely broken in. Chris told us the car will be given a fresh MOT and the remaining Aston Martin Premium Warranty will be transferred to the new owner, with the expiry date being 2/11/2023. In the current ownership of ~9 months, the car has been ceramic coated by Aston Martin, and 4 new Pirelli tyres fitted. Please note, the private registration will not be sold with the car, the car will go back to an age related registration number.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Good afternoon Chris, if I win the auction can I pay the balance in cash, I’d be happy to go to your bank for them to count/check the money?

Good morning Chris, I see you will be getting the car motd as due, will you also be getting the car serviced?
