Introduction

Tom Valle
Professional Consigner

The second-generation RS4 delivers in all areas with its exceptional NA V8 engine and handling.

The announcement of the RS4 in 2005 was surprising to everyone, the engine alone shocked, being a naturally aspirated 4.2L all-aluminium V8 block with a huge 12.5:1 compression ratio. Production of the B7 lasted until 2008, with approximately 10,000 built. The RS4 differs from the A4 and S4, with its aluminium front wings, aluminium bonnet and flared-out wheel arches to provide for a wider axel track. What it's all about though is "that" ~414BHP V8, channelling all its energy through the four-wheel-drive system with 60% heading to the rear.

Coming out of 4 year ownership, the car has been given some tasteful modifications in the form of upgraded brakes, a Miltek switchable exhaust, Alpine head unit, front and rear cameras, and a re-map by Riverside. Presented in a beautiful condition, the tell-tale silver wing mirrors and wide wheel arches make for a timeless design.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Tom after meeting Steve the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I really enjoy all the practicalities of a 4-wheel-drive saloon but with the added magic of that rev happy V8.

Steve has enjoyed 4 fast years in the Audi RS4 B7, totting up around 2,000 miles in that time, and the car stored professionally to ensure the condition is maintained. The car has been given some tasteful modifications in the form of upgraded brakes, Miltek switchable exhaust, and some practical features like front and rear cameras.

As much as he enjoys the car, Steve says "I'm not a petrol head", but due to lack of use more recently he is now looking at finding a new owner. Steve will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

GET YOUR VALUATION

Exterior

It might look like a normal saloon from afar but get closer and those gorgeous flared-out wheel arches and trademark trim give the game away.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with RS multi-spoke alloys, they really give the RS4 that stand out appeal. The alloys present in very good condition with just some minor curbing observed in places.

The tyres look great too, with lots of life appearing to be left on each Zeta Alventi dated 2016.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks to be in great condition all around and we haven't noticed any worrisome areas. The panel fitment across the car appears to be tight and correct as you would expect for a car of this calibre. When getting really close to the driver's door we notice a little area of damage to the bottom corner.

Overall presented in great condition, please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at each panel.

Paint

The RS4 is finished in an elegant "Daytona Grey Pearl". The colour really suits the shape of the car and it gives it more of a wolf in sheep's clothing feel than the trademark blue or red you often see.

As you would expect the finish of the paint is excellent and reflected nicely showing a deep lustre on our visit. When looking very close, we also noticed a very minor mark on the boot lid and some very light stone chipping to the aluminium bonnet and RS front bumper.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the paintwork.

Glass and Trim

All the glass on this Audi B7 RS4 looks to be in great condition.

The trim and rubbers also look to be in very good condition with no obvious signs of wear.

Interior

Press the sport button for a V8 growl and contracting seat side bolsters to lock you in place.

Seats and Carpets

The full black leather interior looks in great condition throughout, with very little signs of age, the seats are embossed with 'RS 4' logo to really set the interior apart from the standard road cars. The seats are showing some areas of creasing around the bolsters.

The condition of carpets and door cards matches the rest of the interior.

Dashboard

A clean and simple Audi set up with RS touches - the black dashboard present in great condition throughout and appears free from any cracks or wear.

Carbon trim with a glossy finish, adds an extra touch inside this super saloon. Steve reports the instruments and controls are in good working order.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A flat bottomed original RS4 steering wheel with the all-important 'S' button and 6-speed manual gearstick appear in great condition, in line with the rest of this well cared for interior.

Please take a look at the photos for a closer look.

Mechanics

A roaring naturally aspirated 4.2L V8 is enhanced due to a recent re-map and a Miltek Sports exhaust system.

Engine and Gearbox

The star of the show, the 4.2L V8 is at the heart of the RS4 and jumps into action straight away in our cold start video. Steve reports the gearbox works without any faults, the car having had a clutch replacement before he purchased it in 2017, and the car performs just as you'd expect.

Take a look at the cold start video to see the engine bay in more detail.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension and responsive up-rated brakes enable a great sense of connection with the car on the track or the road. Painted yellow RS4 callipers on this example give the car that little extra style.

The Drive

With a 0-60 speed of 4.3 seconds, and a limited top speed of 155mph, you'll be able to get anywhere in a hurry. These super saloons with the 4-wheel-drive system are extremely capable at transferring the V8 power to the road.

Electrics and Other

Steve reports that the electrics are in good working order and the dashboard features an uprated Alpine head unit with output from the front and rear parking cameras.

History and Paperwork

These V8 super saloons have already cemented themselves as future classics - this particular example being a UK RHD with a choice of tasteful modifications is ready for its new adventure.

Presented in great condition, this RS4 is ready to be enjoyed and cherished. The car has received tasteful performance modifications and electrical upgrades to bring it up to 2021 spec. We have listed the MOTs certificates, please review all the paperwork to see other work carried out on the car, including a new clutch in 2017.

We have actioned our usual checks; seller ID, V5C, HPi.

As the boys keep asking is there service history that comes with the vehicle by any chance?

Hi Steve, looking at the paperwork from Feb 2017 it looks like the car has a stage 2 REVO remap but the dyno from 2020 shows 411bhp & 306FtLb torque which are both a little below stock. A stage 2 REVO map should be around 450bhp. Is the map still on the car or did you remove it?

Also following on from other comments, can you advise as to the service history of the vehicle?

Cheers.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. Can you confirm there is a full service history then as I can also only see the 2 docs mentioned by ecc123. Any chance of adding the service book to the pictures?

With regard to the remap, I would assume that it was removed to be producing less power than stock. Appreciate Riverside worked on the map but Stage 2 should be higher.

Thanks.

Please could you advise if there has ever been a problem with the Oil cooler pipes – a common issue is corrosion / design fault.

Also interested in the service history docs and MOT state with the upgraded exhaust.

Thanks
Dan
