Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
With room for the whole family and six cylinders powering it, it was an excellent choice for those seeking a sports car with some added practicality.
Launched in 1956, the Austin-Healey 100/6 BN4 was a four-seater roadster designed and built by Donald Healey. The aim was to create an excellent handling, fast sports car that could rival models from Jaguar and MG, all at a price more drivers could afford. Just one year later, the 2.6-litre straight-six received an improvement, gaining an additional 16bhp through alterations to the inlet manifold, the fitting of larger valves, and an increase in the compression ratio. This resulted in an impressive boost in midrange power at around 50mph, ideal for navigating B roads.
This example emerges from ~20 years of ownership with the vendor. With engine and sills addressed in 2014, the car is ready for use on weekends or track days, with potential for further improvement in the future. Finished in its Ford Colorado Red over Old English White colorway, we appreciate the character this car exudes, positioned as a drivers example.
This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Duncan the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.
