Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

Everyone loves a mini, especially a rare one!

Forget the old rounded front hangover from the '50s; this is the '70s now - blessed with a sporty front end and a much faster engine, this Austin Mini 1275GT is the real deal.

There are only 106 of these rare gems left registered - so a great opportunity to own the GT model you always wanted.

This example is ready to drive and enjoy, with room to improve over time.

This auction listing was written by Jacob after liaising with Tristan the owner, and having photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I've many happy memories with this little car and have always loved the more aggressive GT styling - proper '70s feel.

Tristan has really enjoyed this little car during his ownership. Over that time he has completed a lot of work, just take a look at the mechanic gallery of photos to see how much has been done on the engine and body.

"This is a really special car, I've always wanted to own the 1275GT version - but it’s time for someone else to cherish and use the car, just as I have.” said Tristan.

Exterior

Forget the '50s minis - this is a new era and this GT pocket rocket lets you know about it.

Wheels and Tyres

We think the wheels look good after reviewing the photos.

Fitted with 12" mini-revolution wheels - it gives the mini a sporty look.

Please have a look at the close-up photos for a detailed view.

Bodywork

The car looks ready to use and enjoy - it's a driving machine and not a garage queen right now, which is reflected in the guide and reserve.

As you can see from the photographs, we noticed some areas to look at, the nearside front wing is a little misaligned and it has had new floors fitted in its 40+ years of life. There are a few spots of rust bubbles over the body of the car.

If you buy this car to improve then you can rest assured you won't have to spend big. For example, a brand new front wing is just £40 - this is a really affordable classic that you know won't be a money pit.

Please view the photos to see how the bodywork looks.

Paint

Finished in a striking orange, a lovely choice of paint for the 1275GT - completing that period look.

On inspection of the car, the paint looks fairly even in finish and colour, with a few areas localised areas that have been addressed over time. The car was originally Vermillion Red, with a previous owner having had the car changed to the orange you see today.

Please have a look at the images to see the condition of the paint in more detail.

Glass and Trim

After reviewing the photographs the glass and trim look in good condition.

Please view the photos and videos for a more detailed view.

Interior

Only original interior to see here - black leather seats, GT steering wheel and gear stick.

Seats and Carpets

Upon inspection, the seats and carpets are in good condition.

We really like the look of the headlining too that is in good condition.

Please view the interior photographs in more detail.

Dashboard

A sporty dashboard going on here, going back to the classic three dials.

Reviewing the photos the dashboard looks in good, original condition.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

It's really nice to see the original GT steering wheel and gear stick on this example. Many other examples you see have replacement / aftermarket changes that just don't look right.

Both look in period condition, please see the images to view these original pieces close up.

Mechanics

The 1275GT engine took the Austin Mini to a whole new level - an extremely lively '70s hot hatch.

Engine and Gearbox

This is the engine to have, treated to boring and a full rebuild too, please have a look at the images to see how much work and care has been taken.

The performance of the engine was extremely lively for the '70s - 0 to 60mph in 12.9s. Impressive from such a small car of its time.

This model also features a standard-fit close-ratio gearbox perfect for swift gear changes.

Suspension and Brakes

The 1275GT was treated to Cooper S type disc brakes, required to tame the lively speeds you will be achieving.

Tris assures us the suspension and brakes have always been tended to when needed servicing. Please view the photos for a closer look.

The Drive

This is a real mini, small and cosy to sit in and extremely fun to drive.

Tris assures us the car drives great and fault-free.

Electrics and Other

Not many electrical features fitted on this car, back to the raw driving experience - free from distractions.

History and Paperwork

Nice to see mountains of paperwork with this full engine rebuild example.

Lots of paperwork and receipts for parts with this example. Please take a look through the paperwork images to see the important car parts that have already been replaced.

Checks carried out by us:
- Photo ID of seller.
- V5 checked against seller's photo ID.
- HPi checked and clear.

Are you still thinking of selling the Mini?

Hi there,
A few questions…
I know it’s exempt, but when was it last MOT’d?
Do all of the electrics work as they should?
How solid are the sills?

Thanks
