This is easily one of the biggest cars we have consigned, these Bentleys really are quite something.

The cabins are lovely places to be, and the design and stance of the car itself are also something to behold.

This car has covered some miles in its time, but it still presents in very smart and original condition. With the fact that the engine has been swapped with a lower mileage example, and a spare gearbox thrown in for good measure too, this will make a lovely Arnage for the new owner.

Meet the owner

"Most of my cars tend to be two seater coupes, so this Bentley is somewhat of a departure from my usual choice of a car."

Surjit is like us here at Trade Classics, a proper petrol head and can talk cars all day long; he has a wide make / model range of interest. However, he perhaps doesn’t like to hang onto his cars for as long as we do! For Surjit the thrill is in the research and the chase of a classic car, then running it for a year or two before finding a new owner.

He bought it some four and a half years ago, he tells us he was ”Looking for a car that felt like Christmas”… this Arnage finished in Fireglow certainly fitted the bill. In his ownership, he’s used the car around the local area, and for his son’s wedding as a time of note.

With the car not getting much use, especially as Surjit tends to drive the car on his own, it seems a bit of a waste to drive around in the Arnage, and so he is looking for the car to find a new home.

Exterior

Finished in the Bentley colour of Fireglow there’s a lot of bodywork on this car to show off that colour.

Wheels & Tyres

Large 18” Bentley wheels, and Pirelli rubber all round on this car. The wheels present in good condition, we didn’t observe any curbing across any of them. Take a look at the video review of the exterior.

Bodywork

The Bentley Arnage has a lot of bodywork, and this car presents in great condition. All of the panel gaps and shut-lines on the car look good.

The only blemish we saw on the car was a small bubble of rust coming through on the bottom of the nearside front wing, by the front passenger door.

Paint

Finished in Fireglow, the paint on the car is in great condition. Even in finish and colour across the car. There are some stone chips on the front of the car, and some marking on the lower part of the front bumper, but generally very good.

Glass and Trim

Everything looks as it should on this Bentley. The parking sensor on the front has some of the Fireglow coloured plastic that has chipped off, but other than that it all looks great.

Interior

Finished in cream leather, with dark red carpets, and of course wood trim across the cabin – a really luxurious place to be.

Seats and Carpets

Really comfy seats in this car, just as you would expect for a Bentley. They are finished in cream leather, the front seats show wear in line with the age of the car. Back seats look in great condition, and the carpets look as thick as ever. View the video review of the interior to see the detail.

Dashboard

The dashboard, dials and centre console look sublime. The cream backed dials and wood across the dash look fresh, the chrome detailing looking lovely too.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Trimmed in matching contrasting red leather to the carpets, both the steering wheel and gear stick look in line with the age and mileage of the car.

The steering wheel would benefit from a bit of leather treatment we feel, but due to the dark nature of the leather, it looks good still.

Mechanics

Surjit took us on a quick drive in the car so that we could put it through its paces.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine on this car has been changed early in Surjit’s ownership. It was replaced with a 40,000 mile example, after the original engine was suffering from some cam issues. This engine fired up and sounded great on our short drive, and the automatic gearbox coping with the power and propelling us along with ease.

Suspension and Brakes

On our drive, we didn’t hear anything untoward from the chassis set-up, and on the local country lanes, the car behaved well. No noises or issues from the braking either. Watch some of the video to see for yourself.

The Drive

A spirited run on the country roads, however, in the cabin it was very calm and collected – the car was travelling at some speed and with absolute ease.
