Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Automotive Editor, Photographer and Consigner

Dynamic power with classic British luxury, the Arnage is in a class of it own.

Exclusivity is a byword often associated with Bentley, a company synonymous with motorsports and luxury pedigree. The all-new Arnage and its sister car the Rolls Royce Silver Seraph, has a fascinating upbringing due to the use of Teutonic engineering with British craftsmanship. A much-appreciated decision to install the Rolls Royce V8 in 1999, resulted in the Red label versions.

First registered in 2000, this Red Label is finished in a regal Peacock Blue with a contrasting Barley leather interior. It has an impressive array of invoices which not only cover a regular service schedule but also include extensive maintenance bills which tally up to £30,000. Clearly well looked after by each of its owners, the car is superbly presented with a near-original cabin. Sold with an MOT to September 2024, and having seen a recent service, it also comes with two keys and its owner wallet with booklets.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Jerry the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The Arnage has lightning-quick acceleration for such a big car.

Jerry has a history of owning premium cars and leapt on the opportunity to experience the Arnage on the strength of its excellent provenance and lavish specification.

Having enjoyed the car for a year, adding fewer than 1,000 miles to its mileage, the diminishing use is his motivation to sell the car.

Jerry will be happy to answer all your questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

Beautfully presented, the elegance of its styling also betrays the cars age.

Wheels and Tyres

The 18” six-spoke alloy wheels are cleanly presented with no outstanding marks.

The car is fitted with a full set of Pirelli tyres which date from 2015 - they all have the legal requirement of tread, with just some signs of wear on the edges.

Bodywork

There are no outstanding issues noted in terms of the floor pan, inner wheel wells or underside of the car, other than some very minor surface corrosion on some of the components, but all in line with the age of the car.

In terms of the exterior, there were no signs of corrosion, dents or marks on the metalwork. The shut lines are all visually even, with a flush panel fit. All doors open and closed with ease - all revealing healthy seals.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The Peacock Blue paint finish has a decent lustre with an even coverage. There are a handful of minor chips on the nose of the car, well within the expectation of a car of this age and mileage, and certainly nothing that distracts from the overall appearance.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass appears to be tidy with decent seals, with no lamination issues and is generally commensurate with the age of the car.

The headlamp covers are in decent shape with no fogging, and the rest of the lenses are intact. The chrome trim is in decent order, with mild signs of age but free of damage.

The bumpers are well-mounted with minor marks.

Interior

Lavish and sumptious, the cabin has worn its years well - a true sign of Bentley's quality.

Seats and Carpets

The barley-coloured leather seats are in very good condition with nothing more than mild creasing on the front seats, otherwise free of damage.

The original Wilton lambswool over-mats are in good shape, with no issues noted on the French navy carpets.

The boot carpet is near perfect, with no signs of heavy use.

Dashboard

The dashboard, fascia trim and centre console are in very good shape, with no outstanding issues noted. The dials and switchgear are in good shape with no significant signs of wear. The owner has not reported any issues in terms of the dashboard functionality, with the air-con also demonstrated to function without fault.

The door cards and headlining are intact, with no scuffs, sagging or significant damage.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gear lever are in very good order, with no distracting marks.

Mechanics

Thunderous performance not withstanding, the Arnage can glide in utter comfort when needed.

Engine and Gearbox

The turbocharged 6.7-litre Rolls Royce V8 engine starts up without any hesitation, with no issues flagged up in terms of dashboard warning lights. The minor exhaust condensation soon cleared up as the engine warmed up. The powerplant is neatly presented with plenty of evidence to support its positive history of servicing.

The car is fitted with the four-speed 4L80-E automatic transmission, which performs perfectly with a potent kick-down.

Suspension and Brakes

The Arnage has seen extensive work over the years on its suspension, braking and steering components, which was demonstrated by its positive handling and ride.

No vibrations or pulling were observed on the steering wheel when accelerating and braking, with its ride absorbing the urban roads without any knocking.

The Drive

When the Arnage was announced, it boasted the greatest amount of torque for a four-door car, and this attribute certainly has not been diminished with age. The acceleration was astonishing for a car that exceeds two tonnes, yet as Jerry blipped the pedal, there were no strains or complaints from the engine.

The ride reflects the years of maintenance and the cosseting hushed drive really betrays the age of the car. As happy as the car is on long motorway journeys, it was surprisingly relaxed around town with a near-silent cabin experience free of creaks or knocks.

Electrics and Other

The original sat-nav system is believed to have been removed and the rear seat centre armrest cupholders will need replacing.

History and Paperwork

An large pile of invoices suggests that the car has been exceptionally well maintained.

Originally registered by Rolls Royce and Bentley dealer Broughton’s of Surrey in late 2000, it has 17 service stamps from main dealers and specialists, with the last one carried out by an independent in September 2023.

Aside from a regular schedule of servicing, the car has seen diligent maintenance, with the owner pointing out that its last MOT advisories have also been addressed.

Historical invoices includes work on the steering, suspension, sensors, fuel pumps, brakes and a top engine rebuild. Much of the work has been carried out by Specialists Balmoral UK, with expenditure in the excess of £30,000. It comes with an MOT to September 2024, two keys and its owner's wallet and handbooks.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned an HPI check on the vehicle.

Small note - the videos label the car as an Arnage T when in fact it's a Red Label.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
