Introduction
Colin Bashford
The BMW 1600-2 was first shown in 1966 at the Geneva Motor Show, it was hailed as an entry level car fitted with a 1.6L engine pushing out ~84bhp.
1967 saw the introduction of more models including a convertible and also a faster version, the TI which had a power output of ~104bhp. In 1971 the -2 was dropped from the name, simplifying it to 1602. A hatchback “Touring” model was introduced in 1971 too, however production of the Touring only lasted until 1972.
This specific car is a 1975 1602, a car from the final year of the 1602's production run. It comes to market after almost 4 years of ownership, in which Chris has restored the car himself.
You can find many receipts for parts Chris has used in the restoration and he'll be more than pleased to answer any questions in the comments below.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Chris the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.
