Recent Buyer Review – Eamonn McParland on 11th May “From my first general enquiry through to the purchase of my very own MGA, Adam and the team at Trade Classics were quite simply, awesome.  I fully recommend Trade Classics without hesitation nor reservation to everyone who is seeking a classic car.  A brilliant business model, supported by a really neat and usable website though ultimately managed by a great group of professional, sincere and trustworthy people”. THE CAR & JOHN

John and his wife have owned this car since new – yes you heard correctly, SINCE NEW – over 29 years.

Please take a look at the ‘Meet the Owner’ video to hear John’s story about how he bought it as a present for his wife all those years ago.

Reluctantly they are now parting with the car as unfortunately the couple don’t use it as much these days – so it’s just sat in the garage and they want it to go to a new home that will take care of it and importantly, use it.

EXTERIOR

Finished in Alpine White John tells us the car has not been subject to any respray – which means you’re looking at rare and original paint. The car is in original condition – it hasn’t been prepared for sale, so you can see the true condition.

Wheels & Tyres
The car is sitting on its original wheels that are in good condition – please take a look at the photos and video to see in more detail. The tyres are showing signs of age and it would be beneficial to have them changed at some point soon.

Bodywork
As mentioned, the bodywork is in original condition – there are a few marks as you can see in the videos and images. However, they could be remedied easily by the new owner. There’s some very light surface rust on some of the inner wheel arches – again this could be easily remedied as there’s no evidence of it spreading to the outside of the panels. It’s nice to see the car in such original condition – it’s clear that nothing has been covered up at all.

Paint
The paint is in good condition across the car – it would benefit from a light mop and polish.

Glass and Trim
All the glass on the car looked in good condition. John tells us it still has the original front screen as you can see by the original BMW sticker. There is a small stone chip near the top of the screen on the driver’s side.

INTERIOR

This is as original as it gets – hardly any wear can be seen and it almost feels factory fresh as you sit inside.

Seats and Carpets
Finished in cloth, there is not much wear visible in the normal spots. The carpets are in exceptional condition too.

Dashboard
The dash is in original condition and shows almost no signs of wear – it really does feel like a new car. Please take a look at the pictures and videos to see for yourself.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
The car still has its original steering wheel and again is in exceptional condition – please see the photographs and videos for a closer look.

MECHANICS

The car is currently on a SORN as John and his wife haven’t used the car so much recently. So we couldn’t do out usual ‘On the Road’ video, however we have still filmed the car starting and selecting gears together with the clutch bite. John assures us the car drives well with no known issues.

Engine and Gearbox
A quick review of the engine bay immediately confirms this cars originality – it looks great and very clean. The car started first go from cold with no visible smoke noticed on our visit. Please take a look at the video to see the car starting from cold.

Suspension and Brakes
As mentioned, we couldn’t take the car out on a drive, however, we did manoeuvre it around John’s drive and the brakes worked well and were not stuck on – they were free and the pressure felt good.

The Drive
N/A – vehicle on a SORN.

Electrics and Other
There are’t many electrical items on this car, however, you’ll see the windows working fine in the video. John has reported that everything is working as it should with the car.

HISTORY

So it doesn’t get any more original than this – a one owner car, supplied by a local dealer and maintained locally too.

John has included recent receipts for work actioned, however, this car was previously assigned to John’s company and as such all previous invoices and receipts were submitted in his company accounts. You can however, see the service history as recorded in the book.

The car is showing just over 49,281 miles as of 08.07.2019.

OUR SUMMARY

It was an absolute pleasure meeting John and the Baur – please make sure you watch all the videos to learn a bit more about John and how he’s looked after the car.

This really is an absolute bargain right now as John has been very realistic in his price, meaning it will sell to a new owner.

Personally I’d like to own this car and enjoy it in the summer – the Baur conversion is really impressive and you can carry four people around in comfort. This car offers a retro ride with the weird feeling of it being a new car – what’s not to love about that.

I’d snap this car up and just spend a bit of time bringing it up to scratch, then just use and enjoy it.

I can’t think of a better summer bargain than this.
