This 840i with its later 4.4L V8 engine is a really nice GT. Fully loaded with electric seats, windows, sunroof, climate control, heated seats, stereo, you can cruise along listening to the burble of the V8 in absolute luxury.

Flip the semi-automatic gearbox in to manual mode, and you can have some fun and feel in control on the twisty country lanes too. The car presents itself in great condition for its age and mileage, and the next owner is sure to enjoy it for years to come.

Meet the owner

It was my dad's car, I'd like it to go to someone who will appreciate its beauty just like my dad did.

This car belonged to to Kandice’s father, who purchased the car in 2016. He recently passed away and so Kandice is looking to sell the car.

Her father, Guy, was definitely a classic car nut, and was lucky enough to own a Jaguar XK140 along with a classic Mercedes at one point too. He used to attend classic car shows, particularly with his XK140. From what Kandice tells us, cars certainly were one of his passions.

From the paperwork that Kandice has found with the car, it has been maintained with BMW in her fathers ownership, and the car come with an MOT until February 2020.

Exterior

The car is finished in silver and sports a really striking exterior design that still catches peoples eyes and looks fresh today.

Wheels and Tyres

17inch BMW two-piece alloy wheels that were an option on the 8 series are fitted.

They present in good condition along with the tyres. Check the photographs for the detailed view.

Bodywork

The shut-lines and panel gaps on this car all look great. Although a 2 door coupe, the 8 series is a big car.

On our visit, we noticed some small areas on rust on the bottom corner of the doors, a small spot on the sunroof, and on the corner of the rear wheel arches. Watch the detailed video review to see.

Paint

Finished in silver, the car looked stunning in the summer sun. The paint finish and quality across the car was even.

The car has a number of scratches and chips on the body, that look to be a result of parking etc. For example, on the wing mirrors. Take a look at the images and video to see all the details.

Glass and Trim

The glass and trim on this car are in line with the cars age.

Generally in good condition, the glass is suffering from some slight delamination in the corners where a black vinyl is coming away, and some discolouration on the roof rack mounting points. Take a look at the video review to see these elements in detail.

Interior

Finished in a range of grey shades, the interior is in really good condition, everything looks really smart and clean.

Seats and Carpets

The leather on the seats is in good condition, not the usual wear you might expect on the drivers seat bolsters etc.

Dashboard

Everything looks really good on the dash, all the dials and the trim look great.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Both the steering wheel and leather wrapped automatic gearstick look great.

Mechanics

This car features a 4.4L version of BMWs M62 V8 engine. The bigger version, although it had the same power output, had much better fuel economy and torque than the original 4.0L that went in to the earlier versions.

Engine and Gearbox

We took the car on a drive around the local area to put it through its paces. It warmed up to temperature without issue, and propelled us along going through the automatic gears smoothly.

Suspension and Brakes

On the short drive, Kandice brake tested the car for us, no issues to report. The ride was also very comfortable, watch the video to see and listen to the knock and rattle free drive we had.

The Drive

A quick blast on the local roads where we were able to test the acceleration and general ride of the car.

Electrics and Other

Kandice tells us that everything works on the car as it should do.

As Kandice mentions in her video interview, the car has an MOT advisory to do with the exhaust, you can see the drivers side exhausts have some corrosion, take a look at the images.
