A bonafide modern classic with its brawny naturally aspirated straight-six and gorgeous sport styling.

The E46 has a huge cult following and, produced from '99 to '06, this model is considered a very desirable and handsome car. The E46 were available with a range of engines and different configurations - this example is fitted with the sought-after straight-six 3.0L petrol with a manual gearbox and the sports package in convertible form.

The 'ZSP' also known as the Sport Package came with a three-spoke steering wheel, sport seats, additional thigh support, thicker side bolster, sportier wheels, low profile tires, and stiffer suspension to increase the performance.

This example comes packed with good service history and finished in the iconic Titansilber Metallic over Dakota Grey leather.

As most of our dedicated followers know, we try to source the very best and unique cars we can from like-minded private collectors. However, recently we opened up our service to trusted classic and performance specialists. Amjad is one of those verified specialists.

Amjad and his friend recently started purchasing a specialist collection of classics, buying and selling rare models. This sought-after 330ci really caught their eye, finished in the iconic Titansilber Metallic over Dakota Grey interior with the manual gearbox, it ticked all their boxes.

Refined looks for the '00s and clear to see why it's loved by so many enthusiasts after 20 years.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the distinctive E46 M Sport MV1 18" alloys, these alloys with their low-profile tyres look great on the 330ci. The wheels are showing signs of age including curb marks. So to really bring them out you'd want to give them a refurbishment.

The tyres look good - the front tyres are Kumho Ecsta Le Sport and dated 2014, and Triangle/Sunny tyres can be found on the rear of the car.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks to be in good condition all around, with no major signs of the common corrosion around the wheel arches observed, just a little around the nearside rear.

The panel fit of the doors and panels looks good across the car, and open and shut with ease and satisfying quality 'clunk' noise. We did notice a few small dings on the passenger door and a mark on the driver's door.

Paint

Finished in a colour iconic to the E46, Titansilber Metallic silver, the finish of the paint is to a high standard as you would expect. The colour really suits the shape of the car and reflected nicely showing a deep lustre on our visit.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in great condition throughout, the rubber seals appear tight around the windows and have not perished.

The soft top looks in great condition and only wants a good clean with no obvious signs of wear to point out.

Interior

Ergonomically designed with M-Sport touches throughout, the BMW 3-Series set a new benchmark in its class.

Seats and Carpets

The ZSP package came with Sport seats, additional thigh support, and thicker side bolsters finished in full Dakota leather throughout the cabin.

The seats appear to be in very good condition and in line with the age and mileage of the car with some slight signs of age appearing in the bolsters and seat cushion. We noticed a little wear to the seatbacks on our visit.

The carpets, headlining, and door cards presented very well on our visit.

Dashboard

A clean and simple affair that any BMW enthusiast will find very familiar - the Sport package gives you orange lighting on the dash and controls.

The grey/black leather dashboard appears in great condition throughout and is free from any major cracks or wear.

Amjad reports the instruments and controls are in good working order.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

To set the Sport apart, a three-spoke M-Sport steering wheel is fitted with the 5-speed manual M-Sport gearstick. Both present in great condition.

Mechanics

The most sought-after variant of the 3-Series - the 330ci pulls so well with its 220bhp straight-six.

Engine and Gearbox

The renowned naturally aspirated 220bhp 3.0L straight-six with enough torque to get you from A to B rapidly. The car will go where you want it to go with smooth gear changes.

Suspension and Brakes

Amjad reports the 330 rides very well. It has benefitted from new front and rear suspension bushes and rear coils last year, which are all documented in the history file.

The suspension and responsive brakes enable a great sense of connection with the car on road.

The Drive

Expect a lively drive from the 330ci with it's naturally aspirated 3.0L and a wonderful soundtrack from the exhaust.

It's a great-looking car with sporty features which offers you everything you would want in a modern classic - interior comfort, and driving thrills.

Electrics and Other

Amjad reports that the electrics are all in good working order, and the dashboard features its original BMW tape head unit. The electric windows operate smoothly.

History and Paperwork

A well-loved BMW E46 330ci that's received healthy servicing and had major work addressed - an ideal modern classic for a summer full of road trips.

Presented as a great usable classic, with all suspension and brake work carried out last year. The car is finished in Titansilber Metallic over Dakota Grey leather, it certainly makes it an attractive package if you're in the market for an E46.

In 2021 the following work was carried out: both front ABS sensors, front and rear brake pads, front and rear discs, brake hoses rear, brake pipes front and back, brake pad wear sensors, front and rear suspension bushes, rear coil springs.
