A rare sight - an Edition 500 M3, powered by the award-winning 4.0L naturally aspirated V8; incredible soundtrack and power.

Before the launch of the all-new M3 in 2014, BMW announced the Limited Edition 500 variant of the E90 M3. The LE 500 model comes packed with ~£4,000 worth of optional extras, finished in Santorini Blue and menacing gloss black 19" alloy wheels. The individual interior comes with bespoke leather and piano black trim with the laser cut designation showing this is just one of 500.

This "Edition 500" comes to market from a years ownership, full service history with main dealers, and it's a low mileage example that remains unmolested.

What a beast! This M3 sure does pack a punch, every journey is a thrill, especially with the roof down.

When Rich was in the market for a high-performance BMW last year he stumbled on this Limited Edition 500 example, the originality and colour sold it to him. He has owned the car for the previous 14 months and had a great time maintaining and driving this car, take a look at the mechanical video to see the car out on the road. Apart from a main dealer service, new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, the cars asked for nothing more during his ownership.

Rich reports that the car is highly original and the only aftermarket modification fitted are 15mm wheel spacers on the front and rear wheels, to help the custom 'Limited Edition 500' 19" black gloss alloys fill out the arches. M-Division design never fails to create a modified masterpiece; an aggressive front and rear with the distinctive quad exhaust.

Wheels and Tyres

To really help the Limited Edition 500 stand out from any other M3, BMW ensured each one received 19" gloss black Style 220 alloys. They look awesome on this car and really stand out against the deep blue paintwork.

Rich has fitted Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's all-round, they appear in excellent condition with lots of tread, and are dated late 2018/2019. When getting really close to the gloss black rims, we noticed the very slightest curb marks on the alloys. You'll have to get really close to notice these.

The only non-OEM adjustment to the car are 15mm wheel spacers, fitted to the front and rear by the previous owner. They ensure that each wheel fills out to the arch and can be easily removed if the new custodian wishes to return the car to the stock finish.

Bodywork

What can we say - the images and videos speak for themselves and show just how well cared for this car has been.

We found no significant issues to mention, it's a low mileage example with just 3 previous owners - please take the time to study all the high-resolution images and videos to appreciate the condition of the bodywork.

Paint

The Limited edition 500, was available in white, black, or Santorini Blue. The original owner picked the latter, the best choice in our opinion.

The colour and finish look even across the whole car. Being extremely picky, we found some very small areas of lacquer peel, firstly on the driver's wing mirror and secondly on the nearside side skirt - the colour is very forgiving, and therefore you'll have to get close to notice. Similarly there is some very small stone chips on the front bumper and also bonnet. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer view.

Glass and Trim

The glass and trim tell a similar story and all look very good as you would expect from a high-performance, well-cared-for modern classic.

Interior

Classy and classic BMW design, finished to the highest quality, hard wearing full leather interior and piano black touches.

Seats and Carpets

Black leather heated and adjustable seats, embossed with the M-Sport logo, with blue stitching are in excellent condition and reflect the use and mileage of the car. The only area of note is a small sign of wear to the drivers seat outer bolster.

The door cards, roof lining, and carpets match the overall very good condition of the interior. We have captured high resolution photos and videos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the interior.

Dashboard

The black dashboard presents very well and looks great with the rest of the black interior.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a multi-functional M-Sport steering wheel with blue and red stitching - it looks in excellent condition and presents in line with the age and mileage of the car.

The car also has the automatic shifter connected to the newly developed M DKG transmission featuring seven gears and eleven electronically controlled drive programs.

Mechanics

Impressive figures for its day and still now, 0-60MPH in 4.7s and oversteer available on demand, ideal for track days and convenient enough for holidays.

Engine and Gearbox

The main event, the beating heart of this fourth-gen M3, tucked under the power dome on the bonnet. The car is powered by the eight-cylinder S65B40 V8, a step up from the straight-six predecessor and with more cylinders, bought more displacement, power, and revs, 420BHP from new.

BMW took inspiration from Formula 1, specifically the BMW Sauber F1.08, and developed a V8 weighing just 202kg, 15kg lighter than its predecessor which has 2 fewer cylinders.

The car started first time in 'cold start' which we conducted for the mechanical video, watch this along with a review of the engine bay and underside.

Suspension and Brakes

The M-Drive system allows for numerous driving styles and the adaptive chassis allows you to choose between 3 different characteristics implemented via the electronic damper control.

Maintenance on the brakes and suspension has been carried out in line with the schedule ensuring that everything works as expected.

The Drive

Absolutely thrilling, the V8 roar, open top experience will offer trips you won't forget or regret. These cars with their rear wheel drive set-up and power a plenty make them some of the most exciting convertibles on the market.

Electrics and Other

The car is fitted from the factory with electric dampeners and heated seats, along with the iDrive system.

Rich tells us that to his knowledge all electrical items work as expected.

Just ~27,700 miles, and with an impressive host of main dealer service history and being a Limited Edition 500 finished in desirable Santorini Blue, we know this E90 M3 will attract a lot of attention.

Rich has owned this lovely low mileage E90(E93) M3 for the last 14 months, covering just ~1,300 miles over his ownership. It has just 3 former keepers and comes with a host of MOTs and the accompanying invoices from the main dealers servicing history.
