Introduction
Jon Dixon
The 2CV is at the very least, the definition of economy and convenience but mostly, an icon of motoring.
Introduced as the ultimate baguette and onion hauler, the 2CV managed to defy automotive styling and dynamic trends and sustain a production run of over 40 years. Recognised as a genuine motoring icon, thanks to its simplicity, economy, space and comfort they became the ideal car for post-war France. The first examples were seen in the UK in the ’50s but a more focused import campaign arrived in 1974, where it provided a solution to the fuel crisis of the ’70s, thus boosting the lifespan of the car. Spares were and still are widely available and despite its tiny engine its surprisingly able to keep up with modern traffic.
This is one of the later Portuguese built examples, but despite this, corrosion has dispatched most examples off to the crusher. Luckily and mainly due to its virtues of low mileage and limited use, the car was an ideal candidate for a body restoration, which has effectively eliminated one of the known drawbacks of these cars. Obviously, people bought them as they’re very cheap to run and to insure but ultimately the 2CV6 possesses a utilitarian charm and character, that no other car can replicate.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi Roland When was the body off resto done?
When was the car last painted? I ask because there seems to be overspray on a lot of the rubber seals.
Thanks
Chris
