Introduction
Glyn Parry
An all new chassis, stiffer, lighter, and aero design with the Spider in mind from inception.
All the ingredients you'd look for in a modern Ferrari; rear wheel drive, mid-engined, and a rev happy V8. Following on from the 355, the folks at Maranello produced something very different, with a new design style that would influence the brand going forward. The Spider was introduced a year after the first release of the 360, strengthened sills, stiffened floorplan, and a redesigned windscreen frame helping to increase the torsional rigidity.
This example comes with the 6 speed manual gearbox with that iconic open gated housing. The car as covered ~35,000, and just had a major service with necessary belts replaced ~500 miles ago, it's a car that is ready to be driven away and enjoyed this summer.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Paul the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Ask Questions
Thanks Paul, I have queries re the service history. I read in the description “ the car drives without issue, after years of maintenance and specialist attention”, this is obviously necessary and of great comfort when buying a 20 year old Ferrari, however the history shared is pretty sparse with very few invoices detailing work completed. Are all the invoices shared in this advert or are some missing ? For example, from the history shared, it looks like the clutch was last replaced in 2006, the pads and discs in 2007 and the track rod ends and ball joints in 2013.
Lastly, having trawled through mileage documented I’ve discovered an anomaly concerning the MOT between 2010 and 2011. This shows the mileage decreasing over the period. I wonder if you noticed this when you bought the car and discovered if this was a typo or evidence of clocking.
To add further credence to the clocking theory, the eurospares continental parts invoice dated 17 sept 2011 hints at a mileage of 56k miles. Some of the information on the invoice has been blacked out so this may be an innocent invoice number or something. Thanks
OK, a lot of points to address here.
First of all let me be very clear, there is zero credence to any clocking theory. On the Eurospares invoice that is a reference number.
Regarding the MOT2010/11 given all the rest of the evidence this was a simple case of poor data entry.
Regarding the service dates, clutch, brakes ball joints and belts were all done in 2013. Since that date the car has covered few miles. When I bought it a year ago we decided to change/replace anything that could deteriorate by age, hence the new belts, tensioners tyres fluids etc. Clutch/brakes/suspension were all fine and therefore left well alone. Basically if it needed doing it was done !!
I trust that clarifies your points as raised.
Regards
Paul.
Thanks for the quick reply Paul. FYI the Italia auto sport invoice is the only one from 2013 and while a lot of work was done, there’s no evidence of the clutch being part of that work (hence my request if ALL the invoices available have been shared). The only clutch work I can see was done in 2006.
I take your point regarding very little miles covered since 2013, hence brakes & suspension not needing work in 2020.
I bought a C4S a couple of years ago and later found it had been clocked. I should have bought with the head and not the heart and I won’t get caught out again, hence my request for clarification.
Poor data entry on the October 2011 MOT quoting a mileage of 28724 is very unfortunate since the December 2010 states 30248. Obviously it is prudent for prospective buyers to query these things given the elevated premium Ferrari’s have for genuine low mileage examples!!
I understand your comments completely. All I can add is you are very welcome to have the car inspected independently. It is a very genuine car that has had everything done that was possibly needed, even down to new batteries in the 3 remotes and torch to ensure everything works as it should!!
Hi Paul, where is the car located now and what is the registration so I can do an HPi check ?
As stated the car is in Worcester in the garage at my home.
The car is HPI clear, part of the service from Trade Classics.
Hi Paul, beautiful car. I read in the article “ Optioned with the shields on the wings‘ but the photos look like the wings just have the stickers applied. Can you confirm ? Cheers
Hi Thanks for your interest. I can confirm these are after market shields that are the same size as the factory option. They are not simple flat stickers, they have depth to them.
Hope that helps.
Cheers Paul.
Hi, we’ll update the listing accordingly. Best, Kulraj – Trade Classics
