Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

The 360, designed with the Spider in mind from the get go; all new aluminium chassis, 40% stiffer, 28% lighter, and aero to cool that 3.6L V8.

The 360 Spider is a proper mid-engined convertible sports car. It replaced the 355, and was a totally new design both inside and out. Gone were the sharp lines of the 80s, a much more fluid design was adopted.

This particular example is coming to sale out of 13 years ownership, a well cared for example with ~62,000 on the clock. A classic combo of red over tan, and being sold to the winning bidder with a fresh service and cambelt change.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

After owning the car for 13 years, and ~30,000 enjoyable miles, I will be sad to see it go.

Taking the cars to shows, and enjoying the car on high days and holidays, David has really made the most of his ownership. This has often been his go-to car, when you hear it start up in the video, you can understand why.

With David spending an increasing amount of time abroad, and with the restrictions during lockdown, he's made the decision to find the car a new home. With the lack of use this year, David has agreed that he will put the car through a fresh service and cambelt change for the winning bidder.

GET YOUR VALUATION

Exterior

A more curvaceous design compared to the Ferrari's of the 80's, but still possessing that Italian flair.

Wheels and Tyres

18” black Ferrari 5-spoke alloys are in very good condition. They are wrapped in Accelera tyres all around with lots of tread remaining and in excellent condition.

The wheels are also in very good condition all around, just the rear offside wheel shows some marks on the paint, take a look through the video footage to see the detail.

Bodywork

Built with the Spider in mind, stiffness in the 360 is provided through strengthened sills, floorpan and a redesigned windscreen frame. The spider has further stiffness through a cross brace in-front of the engine, and also extra side reinforcements.

The shut lines across all the panels are tight and even as you'd expect, and no dents etc observed. The soft top roof is also in excellent condition, watch the video to see all the detail.

Paint

Rosso Red, a classic choice for paint. Across the car, the paint is even in finish and colour.

There are just a couple of small marks on the lower air intake scoops by the rear wheels, watch the video review to see these being pointed out.

Glass and Trim

All excellent with no damage, please review the photos. The lights look incredibly clean and free from and fogging etc.

Interior

A beautiful tan interior, a perfect pairing for the Rosso exterior, a driver focused cabin.

Seats and Carpets

Electrically adjustable Ferrari Daytona tan leather seats with contrast piping, matching with the lower carpet colour for a refined finished. The tan leather looks excellent across the seats, only the piping area of the upper bolster on the drivers seat has some wear as pictured.

The carpets look excellent too, and the car has seat covers for protection included in the sale.

Dashboard

A rev counter going up to 10,000RPM, and a speedometer going up to 220MPH, this is a fast Ferrari. All the dashboard looks in excellent condition from the dials through to the leather covering.

Tan leather covering on the lower part of the dash and black leather on the top, all looks tight and correct. The wind deflector comes with the car, but the positioning pins have broken, something for the new owner to remedy.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A simple driving focused steering wheel, the era before Ferrari introduced the Manettino dial and Start Engine controls. This car is fitted with the F1 gearbox, and so minimal controls on the centre console, and "flappy paddles" behind the steering wheel.

Mechanics

A naturally aspirated 3.6L V8 with 5 valves per cylinder, pushing out 395BHP to the rear wheels.

Engine and Gearbox

The 360 engine was an evolution of the V8 in the 355, displacement up to 3.6L, visible at all times through the boot window. With the restrictions on travel during the pandemic, the car has remained garaged and unused, and so needed a bit of a boost from cold. Once up to temperature, it sounded just as you'd expect, as you'll see in the video.

Fitted with the F1 paddle-shift operated gearbox, changing gear is very quick. David informs us the clutch has been changed under his ownership, and will provide a wear report when the car is serviced.

Suspension and Brakes

David has had the car serviced by independent Ferrari specialist Dave Walton in his ownership, and has had some suspension work completed in the past.

He assures us that the car handles as you'd expect for a Ferrari of this calibre, and stops just as it should do too.

The Drive

Track-tuned suspension, aerodynamic gains, weight reduction, power improvements and revised gearbox software made Ferrari’s new mid-engine model something special. Sun out, roof down, no music needed; incredible exhaust notes will put a smile on your face throughout your journey.

Electrics and Other

Coming with two keys with remote fobs. We are assured through our visit and speaking to the owner, all electrics work on the car, you'll see the folding roof in operation in our video.

History and Paperwork

Coming out of 12 years ownership, a UK RHD example with regular maintenance, a fresh service and cambelt change to be actioned for the winning bidder.

Regularly serviced by independent Ferrari specialist Dave Walton, the car comes with a stamped service book and a host of recent invoices from David. Importantly, if the car sells, it will be put through a fresh service for the buyer including a cambelt change for peace of mind.

Please note, the private registration will not be sold with the car, and it will be moved back to the original age related registration number.

Car options; Red callipers - Leather Upholstery for Rear Shelf/Door Sill Mould - Electrically Operated Seats - Seat Piping with Colour Upon Request - Ferrari Daytona Seat Style Trim - Ferrari Shields on wings.

We've actioned our normal checks on the seller and car; ID confirmed, V5C document, HPi clear.

Hello David,
I do like the car, but noticed is had sold on here via an auction at the mid forties level; and wish to ask why it is now for sale as a classified.

Having watched the video, significant undercarriage blemishes, even damage, can be seen and under panels ill fitted. I appreciate it is an old car but would require significant work to improve; and wonder if a purchase at a lower figure be possible?

Regards, Robert

Hi Robert, the winner has invalidated the contractual terms of the sale, and so we are proceeding through the legal routes for compensation from them. Because they have invalided the terms, we are able to offer the car for sale. Best, Kulraj

Hi Kulraj, good luck with that. Do you mean they came to look at the car; and had a proper look underneath and decided against concluding the transaction. I’d buy the car, but you’re asking too much for one in this condition. Thanks again, Robert

Nope nothing like that, they have just not shown up to complete the purchase in essence. No worries Robert, thanks for considering this one. Best, Kulraj

Hello. On looking at the video there appears to be corrosion and damage to the underbody by the sills. Can you please explain as it may be bad lighting?

Hi LMR, we didn’t observe any corrosion (places you might expect like the jacking points and/or areas where it is screwed in look corrosion free), looking through again, there are marks on some of the underbody; right underneath the front offside a small mark, marking on the nearside sill but not corrosion. Hope that helps, it’s an incredibly low car so lighting was a challenge although you can see all the protective underbody panelling in place. Best, Kulraj
