Introduction

Colin Bashford
Professional Consigner

Designer Frank Stephenson helped Pininfarina style the F430, with its broad hips and more modern design.

In 2004 the F430 replaced the 360 Modena as Ferrari's mid-engined V8 model, unveiled at the Paris motorshow, the traditional 3.6L was replaced with a brand new 4.3L unit. The newly designed engine produced ~483bhp, revving up to a redline of 8,500rpm with a great bark. The F430 has a top speed of ~196mph, and dispatches the 0-60mph sprint ~3.6 seconds.

This specific F430 Spider comes to market with an incredibly low mileage of only ~3,700 verified miles on the clock over its ~17 year lifetime. It comes to market from 2.5 year ownership where ~1,500 miles were completed, and has just 3 former keepers recorded (1 of those being a change in family ownership). It has been serviced at Graypaul Edinburgh in August this year, and presents in excellent condition to match the limited mileage this car has covered in its life.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Chris the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

This car has been an absolute joy, I've covered ~1,500 miles and now think it's time for another enthusiast to enjoy.

Chris has owned this F430 for over 2.5 years, owning a Ferrari has always been a dream, so when he found this beautiful example in exceptional condition and low mileage he of course jumped at the chance. In his ownership the car has lived in a climate controlled Carcoon Veloce complete with original Ferrari car-cover in Chris's garage, and prior to his ownership it was cared for by various collectors.

Chris has attended some Ferrari club meetings with the car, and various other events in his time of ownership. He has enjoyed every minute with the car, he invested in a covered trailer to avoid having to put miles on the car for menial things such as servicing. With the low mileage nature of this example, he is keen for it to stay this way and so brings the car to market as he'll be looking for a more modest mileage example to drive and enjoy in the future. He'll be happy to answer any questions on the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The beautiful sleek lines of the F430 were developed in the wind tunnel, a much more aerodynamically and modern design than the outgoing 360.

Wheels and Tyres

The factory 19", twin five-spoke F430 wheels are complete with Ferrari Giallo valve covers. The wheels were all looking in great shape, as to be expected with such little mileage on the car. We didn't notice any nicks or scrapes on any of the wheels, Chris had just taken the wheels off for a proper clean, and it shows.

As specified by Ferrari, the car is fitted with a matching set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres all looked to have good tread on them, we didn't notice any cracking in any of the rubber either. This car is fitted with TPMS which Chris assures us is working correctly. View the image gallery to see the detail.

Bodywork

In keeping with the cherished life this Ferrari has seen, the bodywork presents in excellent condition. We didn't observe any dents to the panels, all looking to align correctly with tight and even panel gaps, and so signs of corrosion. The underside of the car also looks in excellent condition, as can be seen in the "Mechanics" gallery.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The paint work on this F430 was also in excellent condition . Front facing and some side areas have been protected by PPF, which has been fitted very well. The car has also been fully paint protected using Ceramic coatings. We didn't notice any swirls or defects on the paint.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass around the car looked in great condition too, we didn't notice any chips or discolouration in any pane of glass.

All trim around the car looked in great condition too, including the fabric of the roof - it all folds away well and appears to be without scuffs or tears. This car is optioned with the "Scuderia Ferrari" shields on the front wings from factory. Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

Interior

The interior of this F430 Spider is an ever popular choice of Crema leather against the Rosso Corsa paint, a classic Ferrari combination.

Seats and Carpets

The optional "Daytona" seats in cream leather are in excellent condition with no scuffing noticed to the bolsters. Finished in "Crema" leather with "Rosso Corsa" inserts and matching contrast stitching, they are an excellent option for the F430, and are electrically adjustable.

The red "Bordeaux" carpets looked in great condition too, we didn't notice any stains on them either, a deep pile no excessive wear. Car comes with front over-carpets to protect the original. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

The beautiful "Giallo" rev counter pops out of the dial cluster, black leather with Rosso stitching looks great on the dash, with it all looking in excellent condition with no sagging in the leather. All the original parts of the dash were there including the standard radio and CD player - all in working order Chris told us.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The now iconic steering wheel comes with the starter button on one side and the "Manettino" drive select dial on the other, it looked in great condition too with virtually no wear noticed on the rim. The paddles looked to be in great condition too.

Please take a look at the photos and video below to check the condition of the steering wheel and gear selectors for yourself.

Mechanics

Taking technology from the Ferrari F1 car of the day, the F430 has an E-Diff which Michael Schumacher was involved with developing.

Engine and Gearbox

At its heart, the F430 V8 likes to make itself known, the exhaust valves open ~3,000rpm to unleash a visceral bark. The car started first time and ran as you'd expect on our drive out with Chris. The exhaust manifolds are a known problem on this model, however Chris has been told by the main dealer that the manifolds on this car are the later mark 2 versions with a better design and not suffering from cracking.

The gearbox was smooth when driving around slowly, and Chris operating the gears manually with the paddle shifters and full auto mode in the video too. The car was last serviced at Graypaul Edinburgh in August 2022, please take a look at the video to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

For a supercar the F430 has a very comfortable ride, you could feel the stiffness of the chassis but it didn't feel jarring. We didn't notice any knocking or other unwanted noised coming from the suspension.

The brakes were sharp as you'd expect, painted "Rosso Corsa" from factory, there was no juddering or pulling under braking either. This car has had a cherished life, and this is visible from the underside images and video, the suspension items all looking corrosion free.

Please take a look at the on the road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

The Drive

As mentioned above the F430 Spider drove very well, a stiff but comfortable ride, and that stunning V8 soundtrack being amplified with this car being a convertible. Chris told us if there's every a car to catch your emotions it would be this. To see the car in motion please take a look at the on the road video below.

Electrics and Other

We tested all the major electrical components including the roof mechanism, windows and radio, including the CD multi-changer and they all worked without flaw. Chris told us all other electrical parts were in good working order too.

History and Paperwork

A stunning, very low mileage example of the Ferrari F430 Spider, serviced by Graypaul in August, this is a beautifully spec'd and excellent condition example in Rosso Corsa over Crema.

Coming with over 200 pages of history, bound into an A4 leather dossier, this has to be one of the lowest mileage cars to have so much history. Overall a beautiful car which would be suitable for any collection, or someone who wants to drive it as it is arguably barely run in. It comes with all important options such as electrically adjustable "Daytona" seats, "Scuderia Ferrari" shields on the wings, "Giallo" rev counter, "Rosso Corsa" interior contrast items and Rosso brake calipers, Tyre Pressure Management (TPMS), Ferrari Radio and CD Player, Battery condition kit in a leather case, leather bound car manuals and full unused tool and tyre-seal kit in the storage compartment as pictured. The car also comes with transferable Global Telemetrics Tracker.

The provenance of this F430 commences a year before the car was manufactured, with all key original invoices including purchase and option request documents, Original 2 key set complete with car and radio security cards.

Chris will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Please note, the private registration on the car will not be included with the sale, the car will revert back to an age appropriate registration number.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

Hello
It looks like you have a very beautiful car.
Could you please advise if the car has ever been involved in an accident or had any body work done to it?
Best Regards

Hi Chris, in the event the car doesnt reach its reserve, I would be interested in having a conversation how we can agree a sale.
Unfortunately due to a pending property purchase with stamp duty alone at £100k its left me a little short, so basically the right car but sadly tbe wrong time, that said i have s few developments in the go at the moment due for completion soon, I would be looking to agree a sale price on the car with a view to paying a non refundable deposit with a view to completing the purchase in an agreed timeframe.
If this is of sny interest do pease come back to me.
Meanwhile best of luck with the auction.
Kind regards
Nigel.
Needless to say any commissions owed to Trade classics would be agreed.

Hi
I’m a non trade cash buyer.
Unfortunately I can bid against myself.
If the reserve is not met I’d like to agree a price for the car.
I have history with trade classics as being honourable.
Kindest regards
