Introduction
Dom Ginn
The MK V Cortina remains a beloved classic car, cherished by enthusiasts for its blend of performance and comfort.
Ford hit on a winning formula with the Cortina. Originally developed to compete in the medium car sector, primarily against BMC, the Cortina quickly established itself as a huge hit with the public. Firmly positioned as a best seller and benefiting from huge brand and model loyalty, the Cortina ultimately went through five iterations, culminating in the Mark V, which brought production to a close in 1982. With nearly 3 million cars sold over a 20-year production run, the Cortina's place in the hearts of car enthusiasts worldwide was guaranteed.
This MK V Cortina Ghia is being auctioned after ~41 years of ownership. It was in storage from 1987 until 2021, during which time it received extensive body and mechanical refurbishment, keeping the Cortina as original as possible.
This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Terence the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Hi was any of the shell bare metaled before painting
Was there any rust repairs
Has it been round the clock
Why were the spots removed and why is there coachlines added as all these non standard features don’t help.
I have read through the ad and havnt found the answers to th3se questions thanks mark
Hi Mark, the underside of the car was treated prior to the painting. It was taken back to bare metal where required. eg in boot around fuel intake.
No it has not been around the clock, i bought it at 3 years old and only had it on the road for a couple of years prior to it going into a lock up garage.
The spots were not factory fitted and were broken so i removed them.
The coachlines were just something i fancied doing at the end of the refurbishment.
Hi is this auction only
Hi,
Yes it is auction only.
Thanks,
Colin.
What is the reserve price on the car please
Hi Ronnie,
Sorry we are not able to disclose the reserve price.
Thanks,
Colin.
Hi Hamilton66, the coach lines were added when the car was refurbished in 2022. Yes there were spotlights previously fitted, hence the grommets and I don’t believe the wiring is still there.

Hi Terry,
Are the coach lines painted on or stickers ? When were the coach lines put on, since it wouldn’t come from the factory like that ? Has it had front spots fitted at sometime, since I see rubber grommets on the top of the bumper ? Is the wiring for spots still there ?
Many thanks.
Hi Terry
Can you tell me a bit more about the respray was it bare metalled or just flat back prime and paint thanks mark.
Hi mplloyd, if you look in the paperwork and history photos there are several taken at various stages of the refurbishment which should hopefully answer your question.

Does the headlights have rust on the inside nearer the glass!?
Hi Ronnie321, there is some discolouration along the bottom internal edge of the offside headlight. I cannot tell if it is rust but it could be.
