Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.
On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.
Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

Warren is a huge Ford fan. He tells us in the ‘Meet the Owner’ video that this is the fifth or sixth Capri he has owned in his life – he’s lost count. Warren and his wife used this as their wedding car a couple of years ago and have loved it ever since. They have had local mechanics perform some restoration on it that has brought this car a vibrancy and freshness that it once lost. Ultimately he loves the view you get sitting in the driver’s seat as well as the muscly bonnet.
The work that undertaken gave Warren a new-found proudness of owning this vehicle and has taken it to various classic car shows to boast its looks. We at Trade Classics are really impressed with the improvements of the vehicle and all credit goes to Warren for investing time and money into this project. New wings and bonnet were commissioned as well as an engine rebuild that makes the vehicle function excellently again. An exhaust replacement makes the car sound really nice too. Please watch the ‘On the Road’ video to watch and hear it in action.
Unfortunately Warren is unable to keep this Capri as he owns other cars that are more suited to his lifestyle – but we are sure he will be sad to see his wedding car go.
During January of this year the Capri was resprayed. Originally the car was Maroon – however Warren wanted to show off a little more and got it sprayed in a beautiful Rosso Red. Please look at all the photos in this listing.
Wheels & Tyres
This is fitted with 185/70/13 tyres on 13″ stock wheels. These give it that muscular style that adds to the essence of the design of the car.
Bodywork
The cars bodywork is in excellent condition with no signs of rot or rust upon inspection. Warren explains in ‘Meet the Owner’ video the work that has been done. He states that both wings of the car have been replaced.
Paint
The Rosso Red that Warren commissioned on the car looks absolutely stunning. Please look carefully at the condition of the paint work in all the photos. It is in very good condition, however, it is worth notifying you that there is a slight scratch on the nearside wing – this is pointed out in the exterior review video.
Glass and Trim
Both are in good condition across the car. The rubber seal on the tailgate could do with being replaced at some point.
Warren has done a lot of work to the engine and bodywork but has left the interior alone. He feels that this is a perfect opportunity for the new owner to add their own touch to the vehicle. The interior colour is grey with patterns running along the centre of each seat and down the inside of each door. Nonetheless the interior is in good condition for a car this age. Please review all interior images
Seats and Carpets
All carpets look in really good condition showing no signs of degradation during our visit. We would say that if the owner wants to turn this interior to excellent condition, we would recommend repairing the seams in each of the seats. The driver’s seat does not fold and will need repairing.
Dashboard
There is a crack in the dashboard near the windscreen. Please see the interior review video and the photos.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Both are in good condition and are original.
As we venture ‘On the Road’ with Warren we start to gain a full perspective of the Capri. We were really impressed with the drive that ultimately showed no bad signs in starting up and any when pushing towards national speed limits. There is also a nice rumble that comes from the recently fitted 3-inch Sportec exhaust as you can hear in the video.
Engine and Gearbox
Warren released the ignition a bit too quickly – but as you can see in the cold start section video – it starts up very well on his second attempt. The gears changed smoothly during our trip around the local area with Warren. A credit goes to the people who worked on the engine rebuild as it looks clean and sounds just as expected. The engine is 2.0L.
Suspension and Brakes
The were no knocks or rattles from this section during our inspection and we were happy with how smooth the ride was. Our consigner John has taken close-up shots of the suspension and brakes so you can see the full condition for yourself.
The Drive
The drive was very pleasurable as Warren comfortably took us around his local area in Cambridgeshire. As you can see in the video the wide view you get from the windscreen looks amazing with the surrounding area – and it is easy to see why Warren loves the drive so much. The last half of the ‘On the Road’ video really gives you a perspective of what it’s like to be in the car.
Electrics and Other
All electrics on our inspection function as expected. Warren assures us that all electrics not tested on our visit work well. The car does not have the original radio and is fitted with a more modern JVC device.
Warren explains that there was no history given with the car but all mandatory checks were sanctioned before the purchase of this vehicle such as HPi.

If you love the muscle-style car then this is the one for you. Warren has used this to take to car shows to meet up with friends and we see this as an extremely sociable ride that will also make heads turn.
The drive was extremely pleasurable to us and we are really happy with the work that has been undertaken over the years that Warren and his family have owned it.
Warren has priced this car very competitively as he knows the market and is looking forward to seeing the car do some more miles with a proud new owner.
