Introduction
Alan Stuart
A homage to a true classic - this rare example, limited run, 4.6L V8 brings plenty of Mustang muscle to market.
Famed for its appearance in the iconic 1968 Steve McQueen film 'Bullitt' where the Mustang was involved in a San Francisco car chase, the Ford Mustang Bullitt is something of a showstopper and a car that evokes a lot of memories for a lot of people.
With a really low production number, even if you're not familiar with the aforementioned film, this car is something of a rarity, this particular model being the 1,309th out of 5,808 produced. What makes this car even more interesting is that even fewer models were manufactured in this particular colour way of Highland Green which mirrors the colour from the Steve McQueen film.
Being part of a limited run, you'd expect the team at Ford to make this something a little more special than standard, this is no exception. Enhancements on these models include; a dual exhaust system, stiffer shocks, upgraded brakes, engine strut brace, exterior and interior design refinements as well as an increase in power over a standard 2008 Mustang.
Being a big fan of the 'Bullitt' film, the current owner has really looked after this car and treated it well. With just over ~1,500 miles driven on the car over the past two years alone, the car has been kept in very good stead. With just one previous owner, low mileage at ~36,064 miles on the clock and an impressive 4.6L V8, this car is in remarkable condition inside and out as well as being a really rare example.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Just to advise bidders, I am lowering the reserve price…
Evening Robert,
I am keen to try and buy your Mustang, dubious about entering card details on site to bid, has the car reached the reserve figure you have on it yet or is it a fair way off!!
Regards
Hello Reg150N, The reserve has not yet been reached. So far I have had two interested parties ask me to contact them if the reserve is not met. Hope this is of interest.
Hi Robert
Am also very interested in your car, if it doesn’t reach reserve price please feel free to reach out to discuss.
Best Regards
John
Hi John, Thanks for your comments. At the close of the auction, I may be in touch…
Hi Robert
I am currently the high bidder on the car.
If it does not meet reserve price, please get in touch with me via the TC platform. I remain very interested.
When you do the final service would it be possible to also get the dust jacket replaced that was flagged in the last MOT?
When was the last oil change done and how frequent was it usually done in the past?
The car was garages throughout your ownership or lived outside?
Any rust or signs of early corrosion?
Thank you in advance for your reply
Paul
Hello Paul, Thanks for your bid. The last oil change was several years ago, largely because the car has done so few miles. It was serviced twice by a small specialist company in Bedfordshire that went out of business several years ago. Since then no more oil changes. I will call the garage tomorrow and talk about getting the dust jacket replaced. The car has a garage but I frequently keep it outside the house. The garage is not attached to my home and I am nervous about it being stolen. There are no signs of corrosion or corrosion that I am aware of.
Hello again Robert.
It could have been me near Oxford last month, I was that way on a Sunday.
What day was yours built on? It’s on the bottom of the build sheet. I’ve asked a question on the International Mustang Bullitt Owners Club group about the fact our cars are consecutive yet have out of sequence Bullitt numbers. The consensus is that the plaques weren’t fitted in any particular order.
All the best, Alan
Hi Alan. That would be an extraordinary coincidence. We were in Headington in Oxford when I heard the car, then caught sight of it in the distance. Unmistakeable exhaust! The car was built on 01/18/08. I presume in America that means January 18 2008.
Hello Robert, may not have been me in Headington, I had come along the A40 from the Witney direction and went up the A34 then off to Upper Heyford. Your build sheet is the same as mine stating 18th January so they are certainly production line sisters. However, my Marti Auto Works Report (that has interesting facts via Ford) shows my car was ordered on the 11th December ’07, scheduled for build on the 13th but not actually built until the 29th January ’08. It was sold to the dealer on the 2nd February. So not sure where the 18th January came from! I see the auction has less than a day to go with, in my opinion, a lot more money to go on it. I hope it sells! All the best, Alan
Understood and thanks.
Robert. I forgot to say, my wife’s name is Sally! Mike T
Dear Robert. Car looks lovely and honest and I love your long ownership.
Can you confirm no involvement in any accident damage? TC says no record of your annual local garage servicing. Are their invoices available and if not, is there a reason? Personal link with garage? I appreciate car will be serviced before delivery. I assume your local garage?
Many thanks, Mike T.
Hi Mike T: Sally has never been involved in an accident.
I had Sally serviced twice by a small specialist garage in Bedfordshire which went out of business some years ago. Since then because of the small mileage she has not been serviced. The local garage where she gets an annual MOT is currently servicing her using American Ford parts. This invoice will come with the car. I like your wife’s name!
Hello Robert. Found your auction via ebay and as a fellow ’08 Bullitt owner I had to take a look. I am amazed to see that we have consecutive numbered Bullitts! My chassis number ends 449 and yours 448. The Build Sheet details are exactly the same so both the same spec. as is the price and the supplying dealer in Florida. The only thing I can’t confirm is the actual build date as this has been covered over. Mine is the 18th Jan ’08. The odd thing is yours is numbered #1309 and mine #1352 for whatever reason. As a Bullitt enthusiast I have made a log of all Bullitts I come across and so far have forty two 2008/9’s so they are quite a rare specimen over here. I’ll post a link to my club, the Mustang Owners Club GB in case your car may be of interest to someone. All the very best with your auction and hopefully I’ll come across your car at some point on my travels. Regards, Alan
Hello Bullitt1352. How spooky to find such a close relative of Sally. In the eleven years I have had the car I have only seen two other 2008 Bullitts. One cruised passed me in my old Vauxhall some years ago on the M11 and the other I glimpsed in Oxford last month. Don’t suppose that was you! Thanks for your info and for passing on the info.
Hi Robert, looks great.
What is the Bhp as it’s updated, thanks, john
Hi John, Sally develops 330 bhp. Thanks for your question.
