Introduction
Kulraj Salh
Arguably one of the best and most robust engines ever built that's paired with the equally as stunning manual gearbox - strap them in a well balanced chassis and you have one of the most thrilling roadsters ever made.
The S2000 has all the ingredients of an exceptional sports car, front-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive, and perfect 50:50 weight distribution with only 2 seats.
The Honda S2000 was first introduced in 1999 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Honda and was produced for 10 years - during that time only 8,000 came to the UK.
The car was given the chassis designation AP1 and featured a bulletproof 1,997cc inline four-cylinder DOHC-VTEC engine. The F-series engine in the S2000 held the crown for the highest specific output of a naturally aspirated engine for 10 years, only being dethroned with the launch of the Ferrari 458.
The output was thanks to the 11.7:1 compression ration, roller rocker valvetrain, variable valve timing (VVT), and impressive 1.82:1 rod-to-stoke ratio that let the 2L engine hit 9,000 rpm.
There is no doubt the S2000 is cementing its name in the history books of one of the all time greats and prices are really on the move. This S2000 is a real head-turner in the modern classic market thanks to it being highly original, having just one owner from new, while only showing ~58,600 on the odometer - David is the proud owner and has made the difficult decision to sell.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Kulraj after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Hello David, I live in Shrewsbury but don’t get back there from abroad until 13th June. If I were winning bidder would it be a problem for you to keep the car with you until I return? Regards
Good Morning Adam, that would be no problem. However I must warn you current bids are well short of my reserve, which will be final. You will never regret buying an S2000, the world is waking up to the sheer value they represent. Good luck.
Hi I notice from the very last photo that there is rust splitting the seam of the quarter panel. Is this the only corrosion?
I was not aware of any such corrosion. If you are keen to secure the car then come and inspect it before the auction closes. If this very special AP1 car fails to reach its reserve it will NOT offered elsewhere and remain in the family. Time is short, stop worrying about some tiny surface corrosion that even I was unaware of.
Good afternoon Question can you please confirm if your S000 has had any paint job or damage also is power roof in good working order Kind Regards Alan Brinr
Hi Alan, please study the photos and videos of the flawless paintwork and hood quality and operation. To open/close the hood, the handbrake must be ON then the operation takes 7 seconds. Fasten a couple of clips and then you are on your way again. The hood is as good as on the day of delivery…., see the photos and video. This is no ordinary used car, it has Honda quality and reliability in spades.
Have you a buy it now price ?
Hi Colin, the short answer is no. I believe that my auction reserve is very fair considering the condition and the inherent value of the appreciating status of this outstanding S2000. Good luck you won’t regret your investment.
I understand and appreciate your reply does the car have any rust if so where I live by Pembrey Airport so fly in and pick me up please I’ve been looking for 9ths for one I can call a garage Queen and enjoy on the weekends ??
Hi Mr Cole, the auction still has over 3 days to run. my car has no rust visible. It looks and drives ‘as new’. During the recent MOT I inspected the underside when it was on a lift. In recent years the car has only been used on dry roads. In the event that the car is sold and you are the lucky new owner then I would be happy to pick you up from Pembrey. Good Luck.
Please confirm whether rear brake discs, advised on MoT in 2015/2017, have been replaced?
Many thanks.
Hello Michael, yes the new discs have only done a few miles in recent years as you can see from the MOT certificates. The S2000 has been stored as my wife and I are now in our mid eighties and use an automatic Jazz as main transport.
Many thanks for both your answers.
I have a few years on you yet, but still enjoy something a little different.
Love the 1 owner provenance. Has the car ever had any body repairs/ paintwork as a result of accident damage?
I note that cam belts were done 2010/35k miles. Would this be due again now on either time or mileage basis?
There look to be a few stone chips on the front of the car but no more than time/mileage would indicate. A small scuff on the wheel arch front near side and a mini dent os door, bottom. Other than these the car looks very nice and genuinely straight. Is this a fair summary?
Are you happy that the engine and drive chain are free of issues? Clonks, rattles, etc!
Many thanks.
Michael, when you love a car as much as I have loved and cherished this S2000 you drive within your capabilities. The acceleration and stopping power of an S2000 lets you avoid incidents. This car has had no accidents or body repairs. Honda designed the engine as a completely new powerhouse using their F1 technology. The camshafts are chain driven for greater reliability, if there was tensioner problem you would hear a rattle. My car is totally genuine and drives like new.
