Introduction
Glyn Parry
Manual gearbox, overdrive system and a 3.4L engine -grace, space and pace is everything that this Jag is about.
One of the most iconic car shapes of the 1960s, the Jaguar Mk2 is an instantly recognisable model with its rounded bodywork and shapely curves. Manufactured in Coventry between 1959 and 1967, the mid sized sports saloon was fast and capable of delivering great performance with this particular version flexing its 3.4L muscles from 1964. The Mk2 model benefitted from an 18% increase in the cabin glass area from its predecessor as well as a change to the radiator grille, larger sides and repositioned tail and fog lamps. A change to the instrument layout became Jaguar standard from the Mk2 onwards all the way through to the XJ series in the early '70s. A true classic for all the right reasons.
Previous owners have lavished extra care and attention on the Jaguar, notably, a full engine rebuild has been actioned along with carburettor upgrades, new battery, updated gearbox, overdrive system, upgraded axle and the addition of a new stainless steel exhaust system. With ~9,633 showing on the clock since the engine rebuild, this Jaguar Mk2 is a really fine example of a classic piece of British automotive engineering and ready for its future owner to love and enjoy.

Is there a reserve on this car and if so what is it?
Hi
There is a reserve, however, like all normal auctions, this is not disclosed.
Thanks
Lisa and Paul
I just thought if I paid you the reserve up front we would both save time and money.

Good evening Paul and Lisa. You have a very impressing Mk2. Could you confirm whether there is power steering please? Also there appears to be some bubbling along the edge of the inner front nearside wing. It may be the photograph/video. Could you comment please?
Best wishes.
Chris
Hi Chris
Thanks for your questions.
The car doesn’t have power steering and there are blemishes on the car, which are all shown on the photos and the videos.
Thanks for looking at the car.

Hi Lisa and Paul. Many thanks for your reply. Do you know when the car and roof were last resprayed and whether it was taken down to bare metal? Also, there has been a recurring report of an oil leak on each MOT for ten years – do you know the source? Is there any trace of oil in the coolant or vice-versa (hopefully not as the engine has been little used since the rebuild in 2008)? Best wishes. Chris
Hi Chris
The restoration work was done in 2008 (for the previous owner), and from the photos and info we have, it looks like it was down to the bare metal in parts (sides, bonnet, doors) but not whole body. Then shortly afterwards, the car was returned for the roof to be painted black.
There’s no sign of oil in the coolant, we suspect the oil leak could be the crankshaft oil seal. However, it hasn’t caused us an issue.
Hope that answers your questions.
Thanks
Lisa and Paul
