Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
Instantly recognisable all over the world, the E-Type is arguably the most iconic sports car of all time - with all the right ingredients; covered headlamps and rear lights above the bumper, welcome the FHC Series 1.
We all know this car as one of the most iconic cars ever made, the E-Type is just stunning in every way, and this example is no different. With the long bonnet and a 4.2L inline-six hiding underneath, it is thing of beauty. It isn't just pretty to look at, it also has an ability to get up and go. With 0-60mph dispatched in ~7.0 seconds and on to a top speed exceeding 150mph - quite a thing in the '60s.
This specific car been with David for the previous ~19 years. It's true, David has not completed many miles in the car during this time, however, he certainly has not skimmed on upkeep and maintenance. The car has had extensive servicing work which included a brake overhaul, new clutch, and ZF hydraulic power steering.
This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi David , Sorry ,Another question !
Could i ask when the New Clutch was fitted ,by whom and at what cost ? I couldn’t see it on the Invoices currently shown .
Thanks
R
Good morning! I have recovered the relevant invoice pertaining to your enquiry – the clutch was replaced in Nov. 2020 by Bristol Classic Car Restoration together will a number of other tasks outlined within the receipt(whilst the engine was out!) so its not possible to give a cost individually for the clutch replacement. It is worth mentioning at this point that ‘lockdown’ was still in operation and for this reason the mileage is still minimal since the replacement was carried out
Hi David , could you please explain the reason for the MOT certificates showing a different chassis number on the certificates 01/02 and 03/04.
Thank you
Hello David, Thank you for your enquiry regarding the chassis no. I am pretty certain that this is a clerical error as a 4E no. does not relate to the E Type range that all start with 1E.The mot certificates quoted were issued before I took ownership. All subsequent mot certs. show the correct numbers (different test station – different eyes!)
Thank you for your enquiry.
Kind regards
Hi David,
1. Please can you confirm if the power steering on your car is hydraulic or electronic. I thought I heard you say “electronic” during the video but this could be my mistake.
2. Do you know who did the 5 speed Getrag conversion and / or from where it was sourced? Was it perhaps SNG Barrett? Do you know the gearbox model, maybe a 265?
I’m guessing that the gearbox was likely second hand when fitted. Do you know if the gearbox was rebuilt with new selector forks, bearings etc prior to fitting?
3. Do you have the original gearbox fitted to the car when new? If so, will it be included in the sale?
Thanks, Tim
Hi is this matching number 2 seater and not 2+2
Hi ,Could you clarify whether the Exterior Colour is Irish Rail Green ( specified in Key details ) or Jaguar British Racing Green ,as specified elsewhere ? I believe these to be different colours ? Thanks R
the colour was identified within the auto paint trade as ‘Irish Rail Green’ but it is refenced as ‘Jaguar Racing Green’ – this the same colour as many models are finished ( especially C types and D types) and am assured that they are the same colour.
Thank you for your interest, kind regards
yes , this is a genuine 2 seater, but not matching no. when the engine was rebuilt it was built around a later block that gave better cooling to the rear cylinders and longer head bolt insertion to give a stronger and more stable ‘ bolt up’
thank you for your interest – kind regards
