Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

One of Jaguar's most elegant production cars to ever grace the road - this MKII 3.4 has been lovingly restored with only ~51,800 miles on the clock.

The MKII was built between '59 and '67 in Coventry, England. It offers everything Jaguar's slogan insisted: grace; space and pace.

The car is powered by a 3.4L bulletproof Jaguar engine which easily keeps up with modern traffic today. If you're after an investor quality manual 3.4 MkII then we think this is the one for you.

This Mk2 has all the right ingredients, restored in 2012 by JD Classics and beautifully finished in its factory period colour of Golden Sand, while retaining its original red hide interior - this Jag is ready for showing this summer.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Sam the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

This Golden Sand MKII was my dad's pride and joy - I could often find him polishing or tinkering with it.

Sam is handling the sale of this lovely 1965 Jaguar MKII 3.4, which had previously belonged to his late father for the previous 10 years.

Micheal's (Sam's late father) partner bought the car from J.D Classics as a gift for him. JD Classics report the car was unused for 15 years until it was discovered in early 2010.

Before being handed over to Micheal the car had a full suspension, brake overhaul, and major re-commissioning carried out. It was resprayed in its original Golden Sand colour and keeps its original red hide interior, fitted with a period "Radiomobile" radio and front seat belts with period buckles. Under the boot floor, you'll find a full-size spare along with a factory tool kit.

Sam will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the car in the comments below.

Exterior

One of the first super saloons, designed with elegant curves and finished in Golden Sand - it's simply stunning.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with chromed wire wheels, this car really does look the part, straight from the swinging sixties. The wheels looked good on our visit, yet would benefit from a really deep polish to bring them out to their former glory.

Also fitted with Avon Radial Steel Tubeless tyres all round. The tread on these tyres look to be in good condition with lots of life left in them. Please check out the images to make up your own minds.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this 1965 Jaguar MKII looks in excellent condition. The car is very straight with no annoying dinks or dents found down the flanks. The doors look to align just as Jaguar intended, and open and close with ease. The same can be said for the bonnet and boot which also look to align as they should.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the bodywork condition for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in the period colour of "Golden Sand", it's the colour for this car and really suits it - the car was resprayed just before coming into Sam's father's hands (~10 years ago).

Across the car, the paint is even in finish and colour, beautiful. Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

Inline with the rest of the car - great condition with the exterior rubber trim looking very good. The interior rubber trim around the back doors would benefit from being replaced.

Please view the photos and videos for a more detailed view.

Interior

An all original interior from the sixties awaits, luxuriously finished with the finest wood burl trim.

Seats and Carpets

This Red hide leather interior looks great, and pairs so well with the "Golden Sand" paintwork and chrome brightwork.

In line with the car's mileage, this car shows little signs of patina, retaining the originality of the car.

No obvious tears or rips on the seats or carpets, just genuine leather creases that show and preserve the history of this car.

Dashboard

A luxurious wood veneer looks in great condition along with the black dials - all were very legible with no fogging or condensation found on our visit.

Sam reports to his knowledge all the switches and dials work as they should in this MKII.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

In line with the rest of the interior, the steering wheel and gear stick are in good condition, both items look in line with the age and mileage of the car. The gearstick does show some cracking.

Mechanics

Goldy locks, the 3.4-litre block offers the best of both power and economy in this desirable classic.

Engine and Gearbox

The 3.4L offers the perfect blend of weight and power for the MKII chassis and the block is mounted to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, offering the driver smooth cruising. Due to the car not being insured we took it for a short ride up and down the drive where it performed without fault.

Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, and for a closer look underneath the MKII, and the smart engine bay.

Suspension and Brakes

Sam mentions that the suspension feels good, and no unusual knocks or noises are present.

Please view the mechanical photos and video to see underneath the car.

The Drive

With a reputation for being fast and offering a very smooth ride with plenty of cabin space, Sam can confirm this with the rides he would use to take out with his dad. The very essence of a British sporting saloon.

Electrics and Other

The car is fitted with a classic styled RadioMobile radio inside which fits so well inside the cabin. The car comes with its original toolkit in the boot, a lovely touch to see all these years later.

History and Paperwork

Everything you'd want in an MKII to enjoy, treasure, and show - extensively restored, UK RHD, and having only covered ~51,800 miles shown on the clock.

This car is coming out of ~10 years of ownership with Sam's late father. Take a look at the media to see all the history included within the sale of the car, including the restoration notes by JD Classics and MOT reports.

Sam will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the car in the comments below.
