The XJS is one of the most iconic modern classics from Jaguar, its stock has been rising as a maturing grand tourer.

The XJS is a luxury grand tourer produced by Jaguar from 1975 to 1996, based on the XJ saloon platform it was noted for the unique prominent rear flying buttresses with early styling drawn by Jaguars best aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer. While this modern classic remains remarkable value for money they are quickly appreciating, and no wonder, just look at it.

With the brands marked improvement in build quality and engineering, it became something of an instant classic.

This example has been owned by Malcolm for the past 5 years, purchased by his children as a gift. The car comes with full main dealer service history, and with a whopping 28 Jaguar stamps you know this car has been properly looked after over its life.

Malcolm has always fancied an XJS, and was pleasantly surprised when his children gave him this lovely example as a gift 5 years ago! Since his ownership, he has used the car for leisure, covering just ~1,000 miles since his ownership.

Exterior

The designer Geoff Lawson, was responsible for shaping the entire Jaguar line up, the XJS was a bold move and one that has matured so beautifully.

Wheels and Tyres

The lattice 15" alloy wheels look great all around on this example, with no curb damage noted.

They are wrapped in Pirelli P600's on each corner and dated 2007. There appears to be a good amount of tread left on each tyre.

Bodywork

Each body panel on this XJS looks great. Shut lines and panel gaps look good, moving panels sitting flush, and we didn't observe any major dents or defects in the body. Just some very light stone chips, parking marks to the doors, and the slightest signs of surface rust to the wheel arches.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in a deep and luxurious green, the colour really suits the shape and class of the car. The paint looks even in colour and coverage across every panel. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the paintwork. We did notice the very slightest signs of micro-blistering on the passenger's door.

Again, the images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The chrome trim around the car appears in great condition with no signs of pitting. The glass looks great with no signs of cracks, chips or discoloration. This car has also been fitted with tinted rear brake lights, and polished mirrors, both look in very good condition. The front of the car also is de-chromed for a more subtle look.

Interior

The finest cabin space around, this grand touring XJS was packed full of 1980s luxuries.

Seats and Carpets

The seats look really good with some usual wear to the driver's seat and a few minor creases inline with the age and mileage, as you would expect.

The cream carpets also look in line with the age and mileage of the car, deep in pile, and the kick plates look in good condition too.

Dashboard

The top of the dashboard is in very good condition - this car has clearly been looked after over the years.

The wood veneer dash also looks great across the interior, and gives the a interior a luxurious touch. The dials, switches and controls are in good condition, and all are said to be functional.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The classic XJS steering wheel looks in great condition, along with the automatic gear selector and surrounding area inline with the interior of the car.

Mechanics

Plenty of torque on offer from these XJS V12's, the ride is all about comfort from a sports GT.

Engine and Gearbox

This car has been subject to a lifetime of main dealer services, just what you want to see as V12's are quickly becoming rare and highly desirable. We filmed a short start-up video, showing the car springing into life, watch the video to see the detail.

Malcolm reports recently having the car serviced in April 2021, and reports that the engine pushes the car through the gears without issue.

Suspension and Brakes

The car has seen very little use over the past 5 years, barely covering ~1000 miles locally. Malcolm reports the brake work well, and the ride is very comforting with no unusual knocks or noises noted.

The Drive

The ultimate grand tourer, with all the looks and with the powerful V12 under the hood, you can sit back, relax and get to your destination in extreme class and comfort.

Electrics and Other

All of the electrics on the car are said to be working, including the lighting and locking systems. The electric windows work well with no lag.

The battery did not have a charge on our arrival, due to not being used, and probably wants a new battery fitting in the near future.

The car is fitted with a Pioneer tape player head unit, and fits neatly within this 1980s dash.

28 main dealer service stamps says it all, this is a lovely example of Jaguars V12 XJS.

Gifted to Malcolm by his children 5 years ago, the car has been used sparingly for leisure, just 1,000 miles covered in that time. Please take a look at the photos of the paperwork section to see the money spent on parts, and maintenance over the cars life.

The car was last serviced April 2021, and was given new front disc and pads.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.
