The X300 brought back some of Jaguars classic heritage, an evolution of the XJ40 with a fluted bonnet and the rock solid AJ16 engine.

The Jaguar XJ (X300) is a full-size luxury saloon, and the first produced entirely under Ford ownership. This is the Executive model, featuring leather trim, wood/leather steering wheel, wide wheels similar to the Sport.

This particular XJ has been owned by Leslie for the past 20 years and only has 2 previous owners, Leslie has loved using this car throughout his retirement, but more recently it has seen little use and so it's offered for sale with no reserve at auction.

The XJ6 has been my reliable pride and joy for the past ~20 years, I'll be sad to see it go.

Leslie purchased the XJ back in 2001 after coming across the car in some classified ads, it was sold by Drabble and Allen Jaguar in Manchester as an approved used vehicle. It has 2 previous owners, finished in the popular Carnival Red and packing a punch with the 3.2L V6, exactly what he was looking for.

Exterior

A classic XJ by todays standards, that unmistakable Jaguar side silhouette.

Wheels and Tyres

Wider wheels were given to Executive to make it more attractive to the younger generation of drivers, we think these wheels look great.

They all appear to be in great condition with very little to note, wrapped in Triangle rubber all round, with plenty of tread. Please take a look at the wheels in the exterior photos and videos.

Bodywork

All the shut lines and panel gaps are pretty good on this example, given the mileage and age. The car is stored outside, and so is suffering from some visible corrosion, most notable around the top corner of the windscreen and the rear offside wheel arch.

Paint

We noticed a small scuff on the front bumper and more obvious ones on each of the wing mirrors. When looking around the car some scuffs on the rear bumpers a small area of lacquer peel on the O/S doors and rear pillar. We also noticed the worst of lacquer peel/scratches on the roof of the car where perhaps the car has been stored under a tree/bush.

This car does look good from a distance, and we think with a little TLC, some Carnival Red touch up paint and some professional buffing this car would have a new lease of life, it's a fully working classic ready to be loved, used and enjoyed this summer. Glass and Trim

The glass looks good on this XJ, free from any major damage, cracks, or chips. We did notice a bit of water inside one of the O/S lights and some areas of the trim that are showing their age.

Interior

Being the 'Executive' model, you're treated to leather trim with a walnut and leather steering wheel.

Seats and Carpets

The interior is showing its age, especially on the driver's seat. Some cracks are starting to appear, and a coming away of the leather on the drivers seat outer bolster, but the seats and seat bolsters seen to retain their original shape.

The seats and carpet look inline with the age and mileage of the car, it would benefit from some TLC to really bring it a new lease of life.

Dashboard

The dashboard looks great on the XJ, clean, crisp and all legible finished with a lovely burled walnut finish. Leslie reports all the dials, gauges and clocks work exactly as they should with know now issues.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Executive gained a leather/wood steering wheel with a gold Jaguar badge to remind you you're driving a luxurious car.

This example shows wear to the steering wheel, the automatic gear selector in line with the mileage.

Mechanics

Packing the 3.2L AJ16 straight six engine, this car puts up a fight among many of its competitors.

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with the AJ16, Leslie reports a great, effortless drive in the XJ. He reports it never let him down on his 20 years of ownership. It's a robust and reliable block capable of 138MPH, outputting 216BHP. The gearbox is a 4-speed ZF auto.

Suspension and Brakes

Like all previous XJ generations, it features Jaguar independent rear suspension arrangement. Jaguars are known for their comforting ride and this XJ X300 is no different.

The brakes also perform as you would expect, Leslie reports plenty of stopping power for the mighty 3.2L.

The Drive

The car lives up to Jaguars old mantra; grace, space and pace. The XJ offers the perfect amount of space for passengers with a huge boot for storage, Leslie's really loved owning and driving this particular Jaguar for the past 20 years.

For 1996 this Jaguar XJ is packed full of mod cons. Leslie reports all are working to his knowledge.

Coming out of 20 years of ownership, low ownership and good history, offered as a No Reserve auction.

Leslie purchased the car as an approved used Jaguar XJ from Drabble and Allen in Manchester back in 2001. Since then the car has been very loyal, and he's had it regularly MOT'd only clocking around an average of 2,000-4,000 miles each year.
