Introduction
Colin Bashford
True Jaguar DNA; Beauty, elegance, power and control, and with only ~27,500 miles on the clock this is a special car.
It’s the Geneva Motor Show 1996 and the world is witnessing the launch of the Jaguar XK8. Beautiful, elegant and perfectly in keeping with Jaguar tradition, the Fergus Pollock styled car is a master stroke. Both convertible and coupe bodies are available and the response from the public leads to over 91,000 of these cars finding owners, many in the United States.
A fitting replacement to the iconic XJS, the XK8 delivered more than a touch of innovation. As well as sharing a platform with the Aston Martin DB7 this was the first Jaguar built V8 engine, past Jaguars had utilised the Daimler V8 unit with huge success. However, the 32 valve AJ-V8 engine used in these cars was ground-breaking and delivers the smooth, refined, effortless power with which Jaguar will always be associated.
1998 saw the introduction of the Supercharged “R” model delivering 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and a governed top speed of 155MPH. Supercar performance and stunning looks were blended with the luxury and refinement of a stunning sports cruiser. Along with the MkII and the E-Type these cars are A listers in the Jaguar story.
With an incredible ~27,500 miles on the clock and only one owner since leaving the factory, this XKR is a stunning car. Finished in "Lazurite Blue" over ivory leather interior in the more desirable convertible form, it presents in very good un-restored condition, having covered just ~300 miles in the last decade.
