Introduction

Like a leather-clad luxury time machine, the XJ6 Sovereign is perfect for wafting motoring.

Between 2003 and 2008, I purchased four XJ X350 Jaguars. They have always been exceptional cars, leading me to this one some years later. My last XJ cost £56,000, and I did not want to spend that kind of money again. This was perfect because the condition is excellent, and the spec is similar to the one I paid all that money for, but for a fraction of the cost.

With a fully aluminium body and air suspension, the X350 range of XJ6 really does evoke the mantra from Jaguar itself Grace, Pace and Space. Plus it's ULEZ free

Exterior

Long, sleek and slender – there is plenty of room inside the Jaguar.

Wheels and Tyres

The multi-spoke wheels are in excellent condition, with no real damage or corrosion. All four tyres have a good amount of tread remaining.

Bodywork

Looking from each side, there are no dings or dents along the Jaguar, and all the panel gaps match.

Paint

Finished in silver, the paintwork is great. There are some minor age-related stone chips and marks on wing mirrors, as you would expect, but in general, it presents very well.

Glass and Trim

All of the windows are clear, with no noticeable scratches. The chrome trim has a bright finish, and all the lights are free of damage.

Interior

Walnut and black leather is a great combination and extremely comfortable.

Seats and Carpets

The front and rear leather seats are in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear. However, one button on the driver's seat is broken. All four door cards are in good order with no damage.

The carpets are clean and tidy in the cabin and inside the boot. There is a set of mats fitted, but the driver's side is a little worn. The spare wheel is in place.

Dashboard

The black leather dashboard and walnut fascia are in excellent condition.

All instruments work correctly, and no warning lights are displayed. The display shows ~116,780 miles.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The half-leather, half-walnut steering wheel is in good order, with no real signs of heavy use. The buttons are also in good condition.

Mechanics

The 3.0-litre V6 is a fantastic engine to power the XJ6.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine starts well and runs like a dream. The car performs well and pulls strongly through the automatic gearbox, which has a smooth change.

Suspension and Brakes

The aim of the game was comfort, and the Jaguar does just that! It soaks up the bumps nicely and comes to a stop in a straight line.

The Drive

Driving the Jaguar is a great pleasure. It’s perfect on a cruise or even around town, where it is effortless thanks to the power steering and automatic gearbox.

Electrics and Other

All of the switchgear works as it should. The factory unit does have satellite navigation, which works, although it might not be up to date.

History and Paperwork

A recent service in December 2024 means the Jaguar should be good for a few miles.

The owner's manuals are present, along with two keys and the valet key.

Some invoices are present, along with a printout of some previous service history that I could find. I have spent just over £1,000 in 2024 on various parts and diagnostics, tracing some annoying issues, which are now addressed. Over ~£3,000 has been spent in the last ~5 years in ~7,000 miles.
